so 8 x Type 055 built from 2017 to 2020 average was 2 per year between JNCX + DL

any idea of the re-start?

even if they restart in 2023 it would mean by 2030 they could add a further 14 x Type 055A + railgun

railgun would mean insane amount of firepower

and with the CSG + ARG those Type 055 big items means business

2 sticks and a baton I like to call it

Who knows. They may already have cut steel and welding the modules in closed sheds. But it maybe a while before they will start assembling in open docks. If they are producing a new batch, it will likely be like the first batch with minor improvements.

well I Believe they may run with these 8 units for a while get the experience and knowledge and then apply the learnings onto the next iteration

I would say a few years gap is totally understandable

Interesting. This looks close to a 60 degree elevation and yet the Type 347G radar dish remains at 0 degree elevation. Is it aiming at a surface target at extreme gun range?

more likely the weapon is not actually engaging any target, but simply firing for the photo op. firing at extreme range would call for the weapon the fire at closer to 45 degree elevation.

why would the radar have to move at the same angle as the gun? its detecting not firing

Because that's the FCR. Type 730/Type 1130 CIWS are not entirely self-contained like the US Phalanx CIWS. On the Type 055, the target search function is probably performed by the new X-band AESA.

Here's how I expected it to look like if actually engaging an aerial target. Dutch Goalkeeper, the spiritual predecessor of Type 730:

It does appear to be firing actual rounds though. You can vaguely see bullets at the upper left corner.
