Hmm, that's a bit disappointing. We initially believed that there is ample volume to introduce redundancy and separate the power generators so that a single well placed hit doesn't take out all the electrical power generation onboard.

While you prefer to call them auxiliary generators, I believe they are in fact the primary (and sole) electric generators.

Borrowing this post to ask everyone a question.

Wasn't it proposed and agreed by many here that there are Aux GT for electrical generation, and the exhausts are located on top of the helicopter hanger? The reason of this proposed idea was the shimmering air flow over the hanger in some side-view photo.

But from these top view photos, there are certainly no exhausts.

That's because the exhausts are relatively small, and that picture is poor resolution.

We did have clear views of the exhausts atop the helicopter hangar from a while back, I'll see if I can find the picture, but no guarantees.

so this is one photo which shows the exhausts; we can see them aft as well as one at the front both highlighted. There was a better picture showing the aft ones of an 055 in fitting out but I can't seem to find it.

In any case, the exhausts for those auxiliary GTs are somewhat small and not really obvious from the sides or from aerial low quality images, but they exist

They look quite small, easily on the order of 10 times smaller than those for the main propulsion turbines. Perhaps no more than 2MW apiece. But we can't rule out diesel engines, and those have lower airflow requirements in exchange for a much larger footprint.

I was going back through the photos trying to identify where the intakes are ... one candidate is the dark rectangle behind the decoy launchers (just behind HHQ-10).
This launch photo has a good view of it:

It can be spotted in many other photos and it does seem to resemble the dark rectangular mesh intakes amidships.

If I am to make a guess, I think only the red circled ones are air intake because we know the one on the main smoke stack is air intake. The one on the hanger is of the same dimension and most importantly it is always "opened" just like the main air intake. On the other hand the others (yellow circled) have hatches that can be closed could be some kind of maintenance hatches for unknown purpose.

I think we can't really guess what kind of output they have by size of the exhaust alone, but the main point is that there certainly are exhausts that correspond with where we know the auxiliary GTs are situated in the hull

I don't think we can rule out the yellow circled rectangles before a more zoomed in photo is available. On this photo of DDG 167 an air intake grill with a hatch is visible:

Of course, given their small size they could also be vents for some purpose other than aft generator intake.
