Nope. The LM2500+ actually delivers 30.2MW each for a total of 60.4MW. Not to mention the Horizon is 1,500t lighter than the Type 45.

Yes the LM2500+ does indeed produce 30.25, but they don't use those on the Horizon, which use stock LM2500

to quote from the link "Two GE LM2500 gas turbines, each rated at 27,500 shaft horsepower (shp)"

27,500shp is 20.5MW

This is getting boring, if you want to believe using a pair of GTs gensets with electric motors can deliver the same performance as 4 of the same GTs driving shafts directly in the same hull you are free to, I don't proselytise!

if you referred to Type 45 with:

the link would be:
There is no such link, since the Type 45 doesn't use the LM2500. If you are referring to Horizon's LM2500, yes I mixed up Horizon and FREMM. Brain farted.

Then stop proselytizing. You're right, the Horizon uses original stock LM2500. OTOH according to the horse's mouth stock LM2500 is 25MW, not 20.5MW:

So we have
40MW on a 8,500t Type 45 with a 30+ knot maximum speed
compared to
50.2MW on a 5,500t KDX-II with a 29 knot maximum speed
50.2MW on a 6,400t Alvaro de Bazan with a 29 knot maximum speed
50.2MW on a 7,000t Horizon with a 29 knot maximum speed
100.4MW on a 8,400t AB Flight I/II with a 30+ knot maximum speed
100.4MW on a 9,800t Ticonderoga with a 30+ knot maximum speed
100.4MW on a 11,000t KDX-III with a 30+ knot maximum speed

It looks like for high speeds like 30+ knots you need a massive power increase. The Type 45 is clearly closer to the 8,400t Flight I/II AB with a 100.4MW power output from its GTs than the 50.2MW Horizon, that is if you convert from a 40MW AIM set to a traditional gearbox at say double the power output of 80MW.

I gave you the horse's mouth with the release from the manufacturer which won the contract to supply the particular engines used for horizon (which are 10 years old) quoting the actual shp (27,000 shp) those engines will produce but you just go dig out the current marketing flyer for the engines which state they have 25.1MW output and claim it to be fact, to make your point. It's just farcical!

I am done evidently you'll do anything to be right, truth be damned
