When do you think, the 1st Type 055 will be put under sea trials ? Is there a possibility that it's going to be before the end of this year ? I can't wait to see a photos of Type 055 sailing throughout the sea.

yep looks like a 48 aft cell grid in the same layout as forward, an extra row would be a real tight fit.

Please can someone enlighten me? What are the two big square covers on the stepped deck in front of rear VLS for?

Of course, agreed, fire control is much more important than the maximal number or missiles, but sometimes quantity has quality of it's own, as Stalin said, and let's not forget propaganda value of being al pari with the USN on that regard.
Let's not forget the value of looking less threatening than USN. China is using that in the number of strategic missiles. China doesn't destroy countries but still looks competent. China has a much lower defence budget.
Also Russia with an even lower budget looks much more competent when compared with US and their sixty allies in the troubles in the Middle East.

almost definitely not lids for a VLS tube if that's what you're thinking imo

If it is, it has to be for very, very, very big missiles. No, I don't think it is another VLS system either.

But another question: How many ways are there to refill a VLS-launcher with missiles? Is it only possible to refill it from deck, or is it technical possible to refill it underdeck?

Unless your hull was *really* tall, which would pose its own problems for the ship's stability and sea worthiness, or unless you had some complex side loading contraption that required significant lengthwise hull space, it's pretty much impossible to reload VLS batteries from below deck.

So is it technical impossible to refill a VLS-Launcher underdeck from the side with misilles? I don't suggest to refill every cell of the VLS-batterie underdecks, but what about the cells on the edge?

You could probably design a system like that, but I don't see the benefits. You don't need 112 missiles to sink a ship in the first place.
