Given the perspective angle it doesn't look like there's room for one more row. I would say this new pic is pretty definitive. Now I'm really curious to know why they went with 112, given how easy it would have been to add one more row of launchers.

Yes almost sure but not new confirm all the rest.yep looks like a 48 aft cell grid in the same layout as forward, an extra row would be a real tight fit.
Remains curious a ship with this size have " only " 112 cell's, reasons big hangar for Z-18F or ?
So a Burke with 96 cell's classified DDG but in fact almost/or a Cruiser as this one is enough close for power. The Slava do same size but more old and with very big SS-N-12 total : 80 " big " missiles except SA-N-4 and only 1 helo, remains dangerous.

I wonder what is housed in the structure in front of the aft VLS complex. The structure has vent meaning some hot stuff but not the exhausts of the main engine.
Seems the number is set on 112. You can count 4 rows of 2 by 8 (16) cells in the front and 3 rows of 16 cells in the back. So that makes it 64+48=112 cells in total.

That is one speculation. But it does not seem to be a good choice for intakes for the following reasons.
In 052x, the intakes are between the bridge and the exhausts. The plumes from the missiles launch from the aft VLS are blocked by the high rising exhausts. The intakes are canted forwardly, together with the round bridge, the air flow is good.
In 055, these "intakes" are flat facing upwards, less air pressure. They are blocked by the square shaped exhausts, turbulent air flow. They are exposed right under the plumes of the launched missiles from the aft VLS, choking the engines.
