Interesting. I expected the secondary radar one deck higher, in the conical upper part, not in the faceted base.

Alas! ... I was hoping the primary rotating radar would be flushed with the integrated mast like in earlier cgi renditions. Keeps it cleaner and more streamline.
Also I'm surprised the CIWS is not the latest one as seen in 003

The primary twin sided AESA on the mast should be flush with the base.

When we've seen it being tested on a test ship a few years ago we could see how the base extended down to cover the smaller array below the primary array.

I suspect it's not covered here because it is being launched and as part of the fitting out process there is still work that needs access to the mounted array interior, and will only be fully covered once it's nearly done.

So where are the radar illuminators for missile guidance? (Or structures, openings supporting them?) Of course, it's possible there aren't any.

My assumption for the last few years was that there wouldn't be any illuminators for 054B.

As a relatively clean sheet ship design with modern sensors built in the 2020s, being ARH as standard is pretty reasonable if not expected these days.

Does the second, rear most mast actually contain a radar in a similar way to the French Gowind class does?

It's very likely, that there is a small radar there, and above it is the ESM mast.

No.

That picture should've been taking during launch at night, where the rear mast (radome structure and ESM/tac mast) was already present.

You can see the rear mast/dome in that picture, which I circled in red.
What you circled in blue is a part of the HHQ-10 launcher, which was tilted at a slight upwards angle during the launch.

So if there are no illuminators, and if old vls system is used, then hq16fe would be almost assured?
Or is there another hq16 variant with active guidance?
