Check post 521 by Mao, there is another 054A in the dry dock nearing completion after 571 finished sea trial.

P.S. Huangpu has taken on average around 12 months to launch a 054A, and another 6 months to commission it, so basically, it takes 18 months to commission a 054A, for all the comparable ships, it's a rate only ever achieved by Bath Iron works when constructing OHP class frigates. So, may be we can say that Huangpu is as productive as Baths Iron works.
Well, it certainly means that at this point HP is building 054As as fast as Bath built OHPs.

Beyond that, I don't believe we can speculate. Bath has also been churning out the Burkes and will build the Zumwalts.

how do you expect us to know?
Nobody here works at PLAN Headquaters
I don't know if china offered to export 054A.
regarding reserve space for future upgrades we will see.

Well its a good thing i wasnt just asking you and it was a question to whoever knew or was a long term follower of Chinese naval planning

They have gotten really good we see a new commissioning of a DDG-51 about once or twice a year now, but that is about to come to end

Well, I don't know about the PLAN, but if you look at other nation's navy, as long as they have better ships coming along, they will start selling current ship design. Also if it was China, they might offer a downgraded Type 54A frigates for export.

I am wondering if the PLAN is in need of more 54A urgently, is it possible for Huangpu to build and launch two or more 54A simultanenously? The shipyard seemed big enough to do that.

PLAN has already started to replace old 053 frigates with 54A. Retired 053 were converted with major weapons stripped and transfered to Fishery Dept.

According to Sinodefence, there are 43 units of type 053 frigates in service, these ships are vulnerable to air attacks, and lack anti-submarine capability. It will take 14 years to replace them if 3 type 054A are built each year.

I think we shall see at least 10 units 054A plus 2 older 054, 4 ships for each for North, East and South Sea fleet.

Also, I believe improved later model 054X might replace some obsolete type 051 Luda class destroyers which are actually smaller than 054A.

The capacity two construct two ships simultaneously is certainly there, but only one dry dock is used to construct 054A's. Interestingly enough, Hudong has been constructing two 054's simultaneously, but they are not as fast as Huangpu, and nothing has been heard from them since July.

maozedong are those photos of 571 or a new hull?

the first and second pictures are the new ship will be launch in HP ship yard, the last one picture is 571, when I post this photo I didn't know it is the new one or not, so I didn't put any comment on it. they scraped off the pennant number from 571 ship,we don't know why, maybe they are repairing this ship and paint it again.
the new ship until yesterday (nov,17th) morning then completed launch to the water.

photos of the 3rd 054A from HD shipyard. Looks like it has finished the sea trials and will be ready to join service pretty soon (probably in SSF with the 3rd 054A from HP shipyard).
