What did they change on the 529?
After the overhaul, none at all.
But there were changes to the ship before the overhaul was made. The first is a skirt, or an set of arrays underneath the Type 382 search radar. I am not sure what it is, I got some suspects. The second is a much more common retrofit that's being added and spreading to the fleet, and that is a flat panel SATCOM (datalink?) placed on top of hanger that uses a small phase array. Some 054A has two of these on each side on top of the hanger, but with 529, one was placed on the center spine on top of the hanger.
A long time ago you shared a good picture of the new array, can you send it again ?
Found it.

Look closely at the covers below the arrays. They look extremely similar if not the same as the module we can find below the CDF system of the Type 52D, at the end of the mast.

Now for it's purpose I think it's part of the CDF. Because type 52C had two adock antennas, then only one was kept for type 52D and this module came. Now we have the similar covers on the type 54A..
Any know the dimensional measurement of single VLS cell of Type-54A .... ???Re-posting some lost images. Reloading the VLS magazine.
