Very good run for 054A ... much more than famous La Fayette-class frigate production run

Which is about like 20 including all variants of La Fayette. Jiangkai class, overall, including subvariants or subclasses, will include Type 054 and C28 frigates, adding five more. The 054B may add 20 to 24 more. The 054 class and its variants will go down as the workhorse of the PLA-N.

Perry class frigates, probably the most numerous in the modern period. More than 70. Next to that is the Soviet Krivak class, including all subclasses, around 40. Then the La Fayette around 20, and the British Type 23 at 16. In my opinion, La Fayette ushered the "stealthy frigate" boom. The purchase of La Fayettes by Taiwan, and then facing them across the Straits, deeply impressed the PRC to create a counterpart that led to the 054s.

Forgot to add. Finally going 26 ships for the Type 054A (or 31 for the overall Jiangkai group of ships plus 054 and C28) also means exceeding all the MEKO 200 frigates, which including subclasses, is about 25 and unlike the La Fayette, may still add more in the future.

Well to be fair the LCS still have considerable bugs to iron out, while the Jingzhou is part of a well established production run.

The first LCS was commissioned in 2008, the same year as the first 054A. The comparison is fair (if off-topic).
True, but the LCS was a revolutionary platform with all sorts of experimental techs and concepts. Whereas the Type 54A was more or less a souped up version of the Lafayette frigate, and it has the advantage of being based on the preceding hull of the Type 54.
If the USN has played it pragmatically and based a new frigate on the hull of the Perry they would have gotten a ship comparable to the Type 54A at less time and perhaps less cost and pain.
