IIRC there are 'only' 32 ordered, so they'll be stopping soon enough. At this rate the final units will be commissioned in 2020.

We can't tell if they're planning for a production break. The 052C, 071, and 903 all experienced hiatuses in their production so the PLAN is no stranger to construction pauses. I wouldn't be surprised if they do pause, though. The PLAN has commissioned a lot of new combatants recently so manning may be an issue as not all sailors from older vessels transfer to new ones; some are demobilised at the end of their service term. Pop3 has said PLAN combatants aim to maintain their crews at 20% larger than the full complement so they can transfer officers and sailors with experience on the same type of vessel onto newbuilds when they're commissioned without compromising the combat effectiveness of the vessel/s doing the transferring. However, he also divulged the PLAN is having difficulties maintaining the 20% crew surplus due to the rate of commissioning so it's not a leap of logic to entertain the possibility of the PLAN's beginning to encounter difficulties not even to maintain the 20% surplus but just to maintain full complements.
