That's indeed what it says, 'Abu Dhabi Defence Show Export Frigate: Artist's Impression'. Still, the PLA and the PLAN to a certain extent are known to borrow features from export designs, so if a 054 successor exists it is quite possible we'll see similarities with this and other such export designs.

Thanks for clarifying. Unless they really are rolling out a successor, they should just build more of these hulls with subtle upgrades. Maybe use the new standardized VLS, FL-3000, and sensor/electronics/sonar upgrades. Call it the 054A++ or even the 054B. Despite the progress in numbers with 052C and 052Ds and rumors of 055, they simply don't have the numbers yet. For blue water ops, this frigate is the backbone and work horse for the navy. And despite different mission parameters from the US Navy, China should have constant worldwide patrols to protect its economic interests which is global.

The current mod seems to be that there will only be 20 Type 054A, and that there will probably not be an 054B. Instead, there will be a new generation of frigates, Type 057.
