054/A FFG Thread II

IMO one of the above might be the possibility for PN since they are in need of FFG (4-6) between 3000 - 4000 tons (something between F-22P & 054A).

Did PN decide the want the 054A?

Light Frigate #1 basically is 054A with downgraded radar suite.
Light Frigate #2 unknown without more info of what's in the integrated mast.

I believe since last couple of years talks are going on between PAK & Chinese counter parts on the probability of acquiring further 4-6 FFGs + 6 SSKs (Quing??) on soft loan basis as same it happened with F22Ps.

Further, OHPs are out of the cards since there are tailor made options available for PN now thanks to Chinese recent leaps in this field & the most important is with no strings attached.

it would be difficult to pack more into the 053 series hull. the 053H3 was the upgraded version per Pakistani requirements and taken into PLAN service first because the Pakistani procurement process took so long. the only other version based on this hull currently been built is an OPV version C28A been built for Algeria. that's even less armed. you are not going to fit the HQ16 VLS plus fire control into the 053 hull.

yes. But it is not done deal yet. Wait for a few weeks .... let's see

With all the talks about ASEAN putting up an unified front against China in the SCS dispute right now, I won't be surprised if China lose this bid.

Only Vietnam and Phillippine are "against" China, and the rest of ASEAN are neutral or "kind of" on China side (particularly Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar)
