It says 40 tons of fresh water per day is that usual or max capacity

Seems low really low

Arleigh Burkes can do 24,000 gallons or 110,000 litres or 110 tons

Type 052C is doing around 9,000 gallons

Type 052C does look modern and in line with PLAN with its standard

I think it might have to do with the size of a ship.

I googled around looking if there were any stats on the water production capacity for ships closer to 052C/Ds size, and the Italian Horizon class frigate is closer to the size of 052C/D than Burke in many ways -- which apparently does 50m3 AKA 50,000 litres per day, so I think that could explain the discrepancy.

Photo report: 24 Hours Aboard a PLAN (Chinese Navy) Type 052C Luyang II class Destroyer
Prcgx2S.jpg

Journalists from a Chinese naval magazine were able to spent some time aboard People's Liberation Army Navy's (PLAN or Chinese Navy) Type 052C Destroyer Changchun (hull numer 150). They published an interesting photo report with one picture every hour during an entire day (24 hours) showing the life of the crew on board a PLAN destroyer. Pictures were taken in July 2015 while the vessel was deployed in the western Pacific ocean.

Great pics and captions, navyreco!

I'm particularly interested in this one:

10:00 - In the flotilla command room, the commander of the flotilla gives the GO for training with live fire. Less than 10 people are required to command the flotilla, through an automated combat system. The average age of the command crew is 35 years old.

I suppose this is confirmation that at least 150 (and almost certainly 151, 152 and 153) all have a "flotilla control room"? I wouldn't be surprised if 170 and 171 could be refit with them as well.

More importantly, I wonder what is the equivalent of this aboard other ships, such as USN vessels? Given that the three officers at those particular consoles are two Senior Captains (equivalent to Commodore, I think in western navies) and one Lieutenant Commander, I wonder if this may be an 052C's version of a flag bridge?

I'm not sure if ships like destroyers still have dedicated flag bridges and if they're usually alongside the main CIC or separate, but that "flotilla command room" definitely looks like it has the facilities that I imagine a flag officer and his (or her) staff would need to conduct a specific mission for a task force or to command the actions of a small flotilla.
