That is a serious fatal flaw for just about any ship, any navy.Damage control not a priority for PLAN it seems.
Firefighting training starts at 2:30I'd be interested to hear what the likes of pop3 et al would have to say, not because I necessarily doubt Xavier's observations of having seen past ships of other navies, but I am skeptical the differences would be that stark.

Firefighting exercise on 055
on Shangdong
There were only some fire extinguishers on the main level
unknown deck, fire hydrant

If this is actually the case for PLAN, then - What the actual fvck?!
Countless lessons from WW2, and little to nothing was learnt??!
It did seem that the watertight doors on the 055 in those videos were singletons as opposed to the double doors Xavier said he had seen on other nations' ships.Yeah, dude I'm well aware of those clips lol, and nowhere did I say that the PLAN doesn't train for and invest in damage control and firefighting.
They don't change the fact that I'd be interested to know how the actual insider's like pop3 would comment on Xavier's views, if they could contextualise them such as whether there's anything relating to PLAN open house practices, nature and geometry of PLAN watertight doors etc.
But - Why did PLAN designers choose single over double? Shouldn't double watertight doors be better than single on warships, especially considering the susceptibility to battle damage during wartime? It did seem that the watertight doors on the 055 in those videos were singletons as opposed to the double doors Xavier said he had seen on other nations' ships.
