I think what Pakistan Navy should come forward asking China to give "friendship deals" of selling 112, 113, 115, 116, 167, 168 and 169 destroyers. North Korea is just a bad boy around corner. China could have giving them all 051's and those white elephants: 136, 137, 138 and 139. I don't think money is the problem for China.

Good idea but they will require a lot of manpower to operate these large ships and also the cost factor to operate and deploy them considering their age

I think frigates will be better for PN however lets say they are modernised with efficient technology's and engines overhauled and upgraded then it would be a good opportunity for PN to add 4 x DDG to its naval surface force

I would not put much hope on the Sovs but certainly the other units like for example 115 and 116 would be good for sale to PN would add a serious warfare tonnage to the navy and complement the already 4 x F22P and Z-9C helicopters

So really it's looks like possibly out of the 53 commissioned ships over the last 10 years 53% were commissioned only in the last 1-2 years

I count 25 between 2004 and 2012 (8 years) and 28 in 2013 and 2014 (2 years)

That's some really weird statistics so many in just 1-2 years?? What's the reason for that I think there was a bottle neck effect and then all of a sudden they cleared the back log and got the ships commissioned almost simultaneously while they sat around launched for a long time

Which is why probably the production is slowed recently

'Asif'.........don't forget the recently constructed 056's account for a lot of the recent new construction.

I think the person responsible for this chart may have confused the rows.

Give him a pass. He's a political "science" major. It could have been worse: David Axe has a degree in English Literature.

152 yet in service :) 6 Flot. Dalian-110 with NSF seems replaced by 052D later.

I'm confused with this, since it has been reported by this blog that it was already decommissioned last year.

In fact you could be right!.......'Wikipedia' is not the definitive source for information on any topic..........and regarding Chinese defence, there have been quite a few errors.

I mean for example for a long while it was stated that their were 4 x 071's in the Chinese Navy, when there were only 3!

Another point.... 052D no.5 is listed as 'active', which it most likely is................but no one seems to of reported its commissioning ceremony!

Personally.... i tend to believe information, if i can find it reported by more than one source, and one's that are known to be reliable at that!

Therefore, if you can find another article, confirming the decommission of said vessel, then i would suggest you highlight this............and therefore someone could modify the relevant 'Wiki' page. :)

I believe 163 was retired on sep 4 of last year. Out of Type 051, the only ones left are 109, 110 and 164 from NSF, 134 in ESF and 165/166 in SSF. Right now, 2nd destroyer flotilla has 5 destroyers, so 165/166 should get retired soon. I would think 167 eventually gets transferred to NSF. And then SSF will only have 052B/C/D
