this is counterfactual because the 055 and 052D both have AESA radars while AB outside of very limited Flight III ships are all PESA. Your facts are incorrect - there has been no such focus. Thus the conclusion is also wrong.

I am comparing the SPY-6 radars (planned for the Zumwalts and Burkes) against the Type-052D and Type-055 AESAs

And we can see a lot of effort being put into ballistic missile defence for the SPY-6

The blocks on the right side is fairly comparable in beam width to the ship still fitting in the harbor. Except that ship is not a 052D but a 055.

My thought too, but I wasnt sure whether I am just making too much out of the dimensions.

At this point its hard to say whether its a 052D or a 055.

I don't know exactly what it is, but I can fairly say it's not a commercial ship as the commercial ships built by DSIC are expected to be much bigger. So big, two of them will fill up the dock abreast and will reach all the way to back. This drydock is originally meant to build two supertankers side by side. Commercially, DSIC has leaned towards building large boxships, tankers and FPSO, and those modules are way too small for these.

Chinese Wiki is saying 4 Type-052D are expected to be commissioned this month alone. Leaving the last 052D for early next year.
