Complexed gas reserves? So how does the HQ-9 or S-300 SAM wheeled TEL launch its SAM's? I don't see any complexed gas reserve on that thing. Those missiles launch from a gas ejection system at the bottom of each tube. And as for hot launch, you should review the last few pages of this thread where the modules on the 052D have been identified as CCL's, meaning the exhaust system is contained entirely within the cell itself. So you got self-contained cold launch cells and self-contained hot launch cells. I don't see any problem with mixing both of these cell types in the same module.

I have no clue. CCL's are rarely even used currently, if at all. I can't remember if the Shtil VLS module is CCL or not. I had thought that the Russian UKSK was CCL, but apparently it is a canisterless cold launch system built around groups of 4 or 8 rounds that share a common launch system, fairly unique AFAIK.

The new VLS itself has nothing to do with CCL, the new VLS is simply a rack that holds canisters. CCL refers to the technology used by the hot launch canister, the cold launch canister is not CCL. There is no such thing as cold launch CCL.

most likely not just a rack, the system should also contain all the connections for firing, self diagnostics, etc.

Of course it's not just a metal frame without anything, it has power and data bus connections, and hatch actuators, but compare with systems such as the HQ16 VLS or the MK41 it's more like a rack.
