I know that the size of this facility is probably in no way a credible way to accurately guess the size of the 004, but if that plane on the bottom were suppose to represent a J-15 sized plane, even being a bit conservative. This flight deck is absolutely humongous, ~400m long. The Catapults would also measure out to be around ~130m. Again Just something I find interesting, don't take it too seriously.

It's worth measuring it out fully.

They didn't construct this aircraft carrier mockup unless they were actually testing and verifying the layout.

A rough illustration on what the carrier mockup building at Huangjiahu would look like after the renovation/construction project is completed. The smaller rectangle indicates the likely position of the island superstructure mockup.

Work completion can be expected sometime in the second half of 2025.

Sorry to rain in the parade, but the carrier mockup building is only ~308±2 meters long at most per satellite imagery measurement. Where do you get 400 meters?

Also, the J-15 measures only ~20±2 meters long per satellite imagery measurement. In reality, the J-15 is ~22.3 meters long.

Do you recall the gap between the Type-055 mockup and first construction?

Yes.

And the final top-down look of the 004 CVN may eventually resemble something like this (notice the additional section extension to the stern of the original diagram):

TL;DR - We may actually have a Sino-Ford (figuratively) with the 004, judging by the estimated island superstructure position on the flight deck.

An island to the rear of the carrier makes sense these days.

So you can have the 2 (possibly 3) elevators to the front, without the island getting in the way.

And there should be enough in the way of cameras scattered on the deck, so they can track everything without needing human eyeballs in a island.

I find that hard to believe, as in comparing their sizes, this deck is most definitely not only 310m, Maybe my 400m was a bit too high, Here 18 J-15 back to back goes the full length, with length to spare and 18x22m is 396m. Even if I give some even more leeway, the deck comes out to be 350+m long.

You can measure this facility on Google earth to check its length for yourself, you don't need to use that J-15 mockup method lol.
