I think green brown beige combination is better colour combination for the marine and their armoured vehicles, in order to brand in with the beach sand, muddy earth and green vegetation. Current uniform camo is too eye catching and attracts enemy fire.I know the camo is only for storming the beach head and originally designed for SCS, but they quite stands out from the surrounding greens.
To be honest I am not impressed
This LPD has been around for long enough and these type of half hearted missions do not do this unit justice I mean it's been 10 years how much longer ??
Get the LCAC in there get them loaded and add some serious organic rotary wing and get those silly looking comic Z8 off
PLAN really needs to start using this it's LPD fleet for what it was built
A single Type 071 LPD can really lift some serious men and equipment and it's mission profile is one of the best for a LPD
4 x LCAC and 4 x medium sized helos put it into action
Perhaps one day...but right now they do not have any...or any building that we know of.They can also use a LHA/LHD for additional rotary air assets.
they would actually need to have 4 active Type 726s first!Perhaps one day...but right now they do not have any...or any building that we know of.
Asif is pointing out the fact that the four LPDs that China has are capable of a lot more intensive amphibious operations with LCACs than what we have observed to date.
The first Type 071 LPD was commissioned in 2007...over eight years ago...and we have never seen her )(or any of the others) with so many as two LCACs embarked, much less the four they are capable of.
I am glad to see them doing what they are doing and believe that they simply are not where they want to be with their LCAC design yet.

I have said this in the past: I believe the LCAC's lack of ability to control side way motion to be a design flaw, and is what impeding large scale production of the hovercraft.
What I observed from footages is that there is a huge difficulty in getting the hovercraft back into the well deck of 071. If it takes an unacceptable amount of time to have all four hovercraft back into the well deck, then they are operationally useless.
