The US basically talked themselves into a corner. Biden talked real big about coming to Taiwan's defense and that's what most people around the world will believe. Let's be honest here, who actually tuned in when the Pentagon walked back his statements? If the average American has no clue what strategic ambiguity is, can you really expect the average European or South East Asian to know?

If they don't intervene when the time actually comes, the world will think the US is full of shit. If they do intervene and then lose, that's gonna be even worse. The only way out is for the US to intervene and win. However, China maintains the initiative on when and how they want to challenge the status quo.

I think American leaders are well aware of China's ability to use hypersonic nukes against the US... but then again, some American politicians think Chinese warships are made from Uyghur slave labor so I can't be totally sure.

That said, this discrepency between how they treat Ukraine and the ROC is for 2 reasons:

1. The difference in how blowhards talk when they're there vs when not there... and America is the biggest blowhard in the world.

When not there:
"Bro, you let him get away after he said that shit to you??!! If I was there, I would have mauled that guy; he would have wished he were dead. I'd shut his fat mouth in an instant! Ohh, I wish I were there!"

When actually there:
"Bro, why do we have to do this? We both have families, it's a Friday night, why don't we just shake hands and walk away? Look, bro, we'll both wake up tomorrow morning happy we didn't do anything crazy or stupid tonight."

2. Russia's still the guy on the subway with a bottle of liquor and a switchblade. Don't wanna mess with him; he's no danger to you as long as you stay away. China's the rich muscular guy in a suit who will take over your business, brainwash your kids, seduce your wife, and beat your ass too and he's coming for you so you might as well face him now before he decides it's time.

US abandoned Afghanistan, South Vietnam, Kurds by throwing them under the bus, claiming they lacked the willpower, low-morale, corrupt, not worthy of spilling US blood. US will find a way to snake it's way out of responsibility in Taiwan when it comes time.

only in terms of anti-immigrant (sorry, I mean brown coloured immigrants) but also anti-French sentiment. But since the French have pretty much been the least pro-Anglo among the Europeans since the beginning of time it's not too difficult to see how Italians would be Atlanticist. This is why the European Union is a satellite of the US State Dept. For every country that tries to grumble a bit against the US domination, there are 2 others who would suck up to the Americans to take some benefits in their place, because they don't feel any closer to each other than to the Americans.

The problem is that the Europe Union is an utterly artificial invention of neocolonial policy, like India. They claim to be based on the Roman Empire (nonsense, because:
1. the Roman Empire had plenty of Asian and African emperors. The African emperor Septimius Severus even honoured the tomb of Rome's greatest African enemy Hannibal Barca
2. Rome had more religious influences from Asia than the non-Greek parts of Europe, even if we exclude the obvious case of Christianity
3. the majority of the Empire's richest provinces and 46.4% of the population were in Asia and Africa)

After the Romans, all other forms of union between European states were nothing more than common-interest alliances such as the anti-French union of Spain-Austria-Ghibelline Italians, or the anti-Ottoman Habsburg union along the Danube. or else it was just outright expansionism like the Frankish Empire, or English conquest of the British Isles. The European Union has no historical insitutional basis and it was created to be, and continues to act as, the economic extension of NATO.

Oh boy would I have news for you then. Expect a deluge of articles about how every 10th ROC general is a SeeSeePee spy, how ROC ground force only learned how to shoot in prone position, how they won't practice maneuvers in 35 degree heat, how ROCAF only gets 50 hours of annual flight time, how ROC SAMs use defective parts sourced from Taobao... Basically all the Paul Huang leaks except exaggerated to the nth degree. It will be used to build the narrative of "PRC didn't win because they are strong or skilled, their opponents are just hopelessly corrupt".
