Nice video from the electric viking. Yes, Dolphin will be very popular in many countries. We will see how BYD price it internationally, but they really need to ramp up its production since its backlog is second only to Yuan+ at the moment.

Of course, we will see Seagull unveiled in April, which will be the most popular EV in Asia imo.

CATL will start mass production of M3P (LiMnZnAl) battery this year. The Tesla semi may use it. The LMFP battery are also in development by several Chinese companies. It's obvious that whatever Chinese battery makers' overseas plants will be producing, they won't be the latest or next generation technologies.

"Wuhan, the biggest city in central China, is the second-largest auto production center in the country behind Shanghai. Dongfeng Motor Group Co., a major state-owned automaker, is based in the city."

Lol, Wuhan won't even be top 3 soon if Dongfeng doesn't get their crap together. The whole management of Dongfeng need to be sacked.

Everybody else is full speed into mass producing EVs and introducing new platforms specially designed for EVs or PHEV+EVs. Meanwhile Dongfeng is just standing around doing nothing, watching all their ICE joint ventures (Nissan, Honda) die, while their own Fengshen brand rots with uncompetitive products and no proper development timeline.

Right when Koreans were on the verge of shaking off their reputation for bad QC lol.
But since it's for ICEs, I wonder if this will have an impact on their EV product line sales.
Reputations for quality (or lack thereof) have a tendency to carry over across product lines (within a company). That's one of the reasons that a lot of companies prefer to spin off a lower or higher tier product line to a completely different subsidiary, or just sell that line off to another company entirely.

Looks like Lula is putting a lot of political capital behind this BYD deal in Bahia. That's great. That means a BYD plant here would have the full backing of the Brazilian gov't and can help China/Brazil ties

A Brazilian diplomat, who requested anonymity to discuss the matter, said Lula is eager to make a significant announcement about the factory during his trip. He broke into politics as a union organizer for autoworkers over four decades ago in Brazil, where Ford's plant closures stirred deindustrialization fears.

A source close to BYD said executives were determined to make the investment after visiting the Camaçari plant, which has capacity to make some 300,000 vehicles per year. However, their "hands are tied" until they reach a final deal with Ford, the source added.
I doubt this will produce 300k a year but maybe a 150k plant to eventually cover South American market with significant sourcing components from around South America could be beneficial to everyone.

The Brazilian auto market was only 2 million last year, which is 1/10 of China. I think Brazil will need to reduce their taxes and incentive BYD if they want BYD to increase production there.

Karma for talking smack about BYD.
