I think having up to 10% of your savings in actual physical gold is a pretty sound investment.
But if people run into physical gold too much there is always the risk the state could confiscate the gold eventually. The US did it before WW2.

So you might have physical gold, but they will stop accepting it in financial transactions by fiat, you will have to trade it in the black market basically. It will not be convertible into cash. And that is assuming they don't actually knock on your door in case you bought physical gold to try to get it from you.
Your gold will be confiscated at airports, seaports, land border crossings, etc.

Politico: Ukraine afraid to criticize China. Ukraine has refrained from criticizing China over its close ties with Russia in the hope of attracting future investment from Beijing, Politico has claimed. This stance comes in stark contrast to the angry tirades that Kiev has directed at the likes of Hungary and Germany for their perceived lack of anti-Russian zeal, according to the media outlet.

Most importantly, China is the only venue for a possible negotiation with Russia. Ukraine can not afford to shut this door if it is not determined to fight to death.

Taiwan confirms President Tsai Ing-wen will make US stopovers in coming weeks

  • Tsai will transit in New York and Los Angeles as part of trip to visit Central American allies Guatemala and Belize
  • But Taipei hasn’t confirmed whether the self-ruled island’s leader will meet US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy
Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen will transit through the United States in the coming weeks during a trip to visit the island’s Central American allies Guatemala and Belize.
The presidential office on Tuesday confirmed Tsai’s plans, which include a two-night stop in New York from March 29, and another two-night stop in Los Angeles on the way back to Taiwan from April 4.
Office spokeswoman Lin Yu-chan said at a press briefing in Taipei that Tsai was making the trip “in response to sincere invitations from our allies … and to continue to deepen cooperation” and that it was a “journey of common prosperity with democratic partners” Guatemala and Belize. They are two of just 14 countries that still have formal diplomatic ties with Taipei.
While in the US, Tsai is expected to address an event in New York hosted by the Hudson Institute next Thursday and will receive a “global leadership award” from the think tank, the Financial Times reported on March 9, citing people familiar with the situation.

Tsai is just going to New York and Los Angeles. She is not going to Washington DC. This implies that she is going to the US for a vacation, not on an official duty. Whoever she meets there, doesn't count as anything official. Because again, she is technically not there for official duty. Unless of course, she suddenly detours to DC from New York. Or she and US officials meet in an official capacity.

Looking at Tsai's trip itinerary, it looks like a PR stunt to say: "Oh Tsai is going to the US! She means business!". I think Tsai is chickening out of anymore direct provocations. Her political career can't afford anymore of it, after what the last one did to her. If Tsai's trip goes as planned, I think there shouldn't be any big fireworks from China. Just more of the usual diplomatic protests.

Why is no one talking about this?

The same reason why they do not talk about a lot of things.

Examples would include Huawei, battlefield in Ukraine, China brokered peace in West Asia with Saudi Arabia and Iran, etc, there are more.

1. The US empire losing ground in these respects.

2. For shrill pronouncements and dubious actions are the result.

3. To talk about it, the actual problem or fact, such as Huawei everywhere, is to admit to everyone that Huawei is winning and someone is losing.

4. The more they lose, the more they cannot talk about, the more they have in terms of weird and silly ideas.

5. It kind of started during the Vietnam War the first TV war. Those reports from the frontline turned people off the war. Seymour Hersh wrote a report too. The Iraq war over Kuwait changed all that, in that the US was going to control the narrative no matter what. That gameplan still with us today.

6. Problem is that with absolute control over the narrative they better be winning otherwise one will be exposed as a fraud. Would West Asia bank their future on a fraudster

7. Oh what a tangled web we weave,
When we first practice to decieve.
