Tbh wasting thousands to become a plastic woman (or man) besides extreme cases is shameful and disgusting. All it does is take advantage of people.

Extreme cases call for extreme measures and small cases can be handled with minimal measures. It's a mental sickness to look good but still crave extensive plastic surgery to fix self-preceived minute imperfections but this is very very rare in the population. You coudn't possibly argue without being laughed out of the room that a woman who did a little dimple surgery or double-eyelid modification is shameful and disgusting and there are extreme cases where plastic surgery has afforded women who were born very ugly a normal or even better than average lifestyle. If you haven't felt what it's like to be an ugly woman, seriously, don't judge; it's oftentimes a life full of pain and tears.

I hope Xi seriously cracks down on this sort of vanity.

Yeah that's not possible because no society will bully good-looking women. For a man to do that is against evolution. Men will covet vain and beautiful women; it is a driving force for men. Harness it to further society. Don't try to tell men they don't like vane and beautiful women, that looks aren't important. It's a fool's errand.

The beauty industry has to be one of the most disgusting beasts of capitalism that need to be destroyed.

That's a total dream. Humans are animals and animals need to attract mates. Peacocks use their tail feathers; lions use their manes; men use our wealth and power and women use their beauty. Never try to break this because you will break yourself.

People's lives aren't just utilitarian. We want to enjoy living. I don't want to eat stale bread, eggs, broccoli and water then come home to a 5/10 just because I can survive that way; I want to eat steak and seafood and come home to Fan Bingbing with an hour glass figure and visible abs. I work hard for that because it's worth it.

I understand that capitalism is a good tool for generating wealth but it needs to stay in its lane and there needs to be clear red lines

Being ugly to save money isn't one of them.

If that ideal weight of 48kg is true in Korea for women, I also think it's not healthy. For average height of Korean women of 1.6m. The BMI is slightly too low

That is indeed the ideal and it is even more crazy that the number can go down for short women but NOT up for taller women. 48kg is a magical number in Korea. However, regardless of whether the number is strictly followed, the important point is that it resulted in a culture in Korea where women are very conscious about their weight and looks and always strive to deliver. In -10 degree weather, they will go out in a miniskit and high heels because they are proud to always deliver and flaunt thier beauty. Korean women always strive to deliver beauty. This was what left the deepest impression on me when I visited Korea over a decade ago and my resolve from that was to make myself a man who would always deliver for my wife and family in response. It's been a great fuel for me! If it weren't that I want to raise Chinese kids to educate as patriotic STEM contributors to Chinese society, I would have happily married a Korean woman long before I met my wife.

No it's not. The skater Kim Yuna was 162cm and 47cm. This is a 47kg Korean woman (stage name IU) who is 167cm tall. I like that, not a corpse.

I calculated the risks before making my choice. I can raise them to love China but I can never, for respect of who they are and who their mother is, pretend that their Korean side doesn't exist. They must grow up proud of who they are, 100% with nothing to hide. So... when China and Korea clash because of American puppeteering, they will be torn as it's part of them against another part. Then, when they go to college, they could easily be picked up by a Korean foreign student group in China because they wish to explore that side of themselves. They could possibly then marry Korea. Then, as a lonely old grandpa, I will be forced to face off in a culture war against 3 Koreans (per kid and I intend to have more than 1 kid) for the identity of my grandchildren. I know it's my mind creating events 20 years into the future, none of which are certain, but once these things happen, it's too late to stop them. I couldn't risk it, so I said goodbye.

Actually The healthy range for bmi has been hotly debated but I think it's generally accepted now to be about between 18-24. Most doctors and Dieticians advise above 21 though. So if Korean female is 48kg and 1.6m then 18.75 bmi is inside "normal" range but on very low side. Keeping in mind, the bmi model is based on mostly Western subjects so might be slightly different for Asians.
Anorexia patients I believe fall below 17 bmi, and severe cases below 15. And pro athletes tend to fall in their own category. If you Google naomi visser, the gymnast from Netherlands, she positively look anorexic but she competes at highest level in her sports and seemingly at top physical condition,

Yeah she isn't anorexic looking. On other hand I dun recall her looking like that in her skating heydays. I mean seriously, the difference isn't just minimal, she look like a different person. Not sure if the pictures were beautified or she had makeup or surgery but I really don't recognize her those lol. She looks prettier though I have to say.

Depends on bone structure. For the same height, big-boned women can look very good at a certain weight while a woman with smaller bone structure could look fat. And at a weight where the lady with the smaller frame would look good, the big-boned girl could struggle her whole life and never get that thin unless she fall into anorexia. It's about how you look, not what the scale says but that 48kg stuff is a mentality. Look good, look thin, aim for it. As long as you make a healthy effort, even if you miss, you still look good and thin and that's fine. But it'll be an illness that could kill someone if a women who's 175cm and big boned tried to force herself to be 48kg.

The key is who you make your Child to be. No need to force him/her to deny the other half, but cultivate the choice of being a Chinese of different background. There is no conflict of being a 100% Chinese while having foreign blood. Chinese isn't primarily defined by blood anyway. Think about it, what would a Chinese Korean (100% by blood) think, do and live if he/she is in your position? But of course, if your child grows up outside of China, you have very high risk of loosing the "battle", it is always the external environment shapes a person.

Finally, it is just a mind exercise of myself, take it as food for thought, but don't take it too seriously.

This is partially joking but it is true in China not long ago. I still remember that my married aunts (father side) were not allowed to enter the family temple (祠堂) but my mother would be standing next to my father, because the wife is one of the family since marriage, the daughters are not any more.

It's an international modern world, not the Tang Dynasty, unfortunately. The Korean side of the family is a phone call/Kakaotalk away, not separated by a once in a decade trip consisting of 3 months on a horse carriage and a 2 weeks on a boat. The risks of a Chinese/Korean mixed child in China being drawn to hang out with international Korean student groups is too high. When that happens, love can happen. Korea has a very fun culture, and s/he could marry a Korean. At that point, the child is now 25% Chinese and there will be an extremely strong cultural pull from 3 grandparents. It doesn't have to happen; it could very easily not happen. The person could easily grow up completely anchored to his/her Chinese identity with the Korean one being a detail/decoration. But I can't take that chance; don't gamble if you can't afford to lose. With the mother being Korean, I am totally unable to take a hostile stance to fight off a growing Korean influence in the child; it would break her heart if I did. Once these things swing into motion, it's often too late. So I can only stop them now.

I'm happy with my decision and the Chinese lady I married, very much so.
