The War in the Ukraine

The amount of money the West spent on supplying Ukraine with weapons is wildly inflated. Most of the weapons being sent were headed for the scrap heap or were mothballed and practically worthless. But yes they have spent tens of billions in Ukrainian government salaries, pensions, and the like.

Russia already couldn’t conquer new lands. I wonder what’s the objective of Russia and will Ukraine ever negotitate and let go of lost territory.
All I see is lose-lose situation for Russia.
Russia already solved water supply problem for Crimea. It has tested most of its weapons. that will give confidence in developing more effective systems. if you understand some thing about background. this conflict will continue in one form or another.
it is lack of understanding of this conflict that Ukraine-Russia are only parties. Russia has no problem in financing this conflict or finding manpower.

Ukraine is an economic blackhole and has been even before the start of the invasion in February. The destruction of infrastructure will just make it an even bigger blackhole of resources and such support is also conditioned to the Republicans not winning the Midterms and the Presidency in 2024.
Just imagining their money purveyors just stop to give (lend) them funds and then Ukraine need to pay his dept that insanely just skyrocketed. It will be a total sell-out and the only thing left is acreage. We will see the rest of the country getting swallowed by the US and EU. Ukraine is really fighting for his existence but it's already too late.

Numbers of military age men a country has isn't always comparable. Countries in the 1900s had much better demographic structures than they do now.

This is Russia's current demographic structure:

Russia probably has one of the worst demographic structures in the world, there is no way they can enlist 40% of military age males without society collapsing.
To be fair, I don't think any modern country can enlist 40% of military age males without a societal collapse aside from poor countries with huge TFRs, primarily because there's usually nothing to collapse anyway, lol. Maybe India can do that since most of their population is not doing anything anyway because their government is still going for services instead of manufacturing...

I wonder what % of Russian GDP is being spent on war in Ukraine ! Russia doesn’t have luxury to trade with whole world while still waging a war in Ukraine. With the war escalating, troops fighting on both sides are increasing day by day. Ukraine has economic+ military support from whole NATO, while Russia has to wage the war virtually alone. Russia already couldn’t conquer new lands. I wonder what’s the objective of Russia and will Ukraine ever negotitate and let go of lost territory.

Back of napkin calculation. Russian GDP is 1.8 Trillion. At the beginning, the Russians were said to be spending 100 milion per day. That is 36 billion a year. With the mobilization, assuming 60K per soldier per year, just paying the additional soldiers will be additional 18 billion a year. Assuming the current spending is double the initial 100 million a day, we are talking 72 billion a year, or 4% of the Russian GDP. Most of the spending is issuing rubble to their own citizens, who in turn will spend the money on the Russian economy, I think the Russians can do this for several years and not feel that much impact.

You don't go to war as a way to boost your economy. In the case of Russia, they know that they will go through a few years of bad times economically, but they went to war for the security of Russia, to not be broken up by the West. It is worth the economic sacrifice to safeguard the future of Russia.

I have no idea why people are quoting and responding to an obvious propaganda account.
Because they are addicted to that bot. Just skim passed when you see that name, since it seems people randomly come off the ignore list

The money in weapons from storage is an entirely different figure.

It's the blank cheque handouts being sent to the pockets of Ukrainian corrupt officials thats being admitted to publicly and overtly that people count when talkimg about money sent.

The scrap weapons are a surplus account that can be added to the final tally.

Yes the mid term elections are close, but this kind of bificuration won't blurry it enough I think at this point, especially when prominent officials proudly proclaim how much of our tax money is being funneled to these crooks on national Television on a daily basis as if it helps the average person in some twisted messed up way. Who knows how much more is going on off the cameras
