The War in the Ukraine

Russia always tends to start the war by loosing initially and then regaining momentum later
This indeed seems to happen to the Soviets / Russians in many wars with WW2 being the best example.

IMO this is likely the result of corruption where during peace time, corrupt leadership and incompetence is well hidden from view. But during times of crisis such as a war, the corrupt or incompetent leaders are quickly discovered and removed from their posts.

With the rotation of Russian generals and command staff, we may be seeing this happen right now.

IDK how accurate this site is but E-7 sergeant 1st class salary is the equivalent of whatever the Russians are paying as the bare minimum. Basic pay for US privates is apparently $1833 per month. Interesting that the Russians are offering that much money as the basic salary.

Aeroflot salaries were about $11K a month few years ago with 70 days paid leave. which they consider more than European airlines at time. Anything related to aerospace is consider prestigious in Russia. now you can expect Russian pilots (helicopter, transport) and ground crew that support this operation to have higher salary than avg of mobilization.
