Patchwork has requested permanent ban/deactivation of his own account, and I have obliged.

Next time some of you guys need to be a bit more careful and have some more etiquette as to what sort of information you can reasonably expect from people.
And perhaps re examining what constitutes good faith and reasonable arguments.

The last few pages of discussion will be left here as a demonstration of what is not a desirable level of discussion around what should have been a collegial and informative exchange.

Any further discussions about "X versus Y" from here will be deleted.

well.. that escalated quickly.

if anyone is in contact with him they should ask him to come back as his expertise on matters is very helpful.

I doubt it will happen anytime soon, if at all. After all, apparently someone here tried to bait him into committing a federal crime.

If I were him, I would also stay away from the place that tried to trick me into a long prison stint and career suicide.

Shame. I was hoping that I could learn more from his effortposts, but I'd rather not see him in a federal pen.

I really don't think that'll be happening in a very, very long while if it ever happens at all. A lot of people have pushed Patchwork WAY too far with this and it would be completely unreasonable to ask them to come back after what happened in the last few pages. If some J-20 engineer or pilot was getting heckled on reddit or some other American-leaning platform constantly about giving up confidential information, I'd expect them to react the exact same way and wouldn't be expecting them to come back.

The only thing we can really do now is learn from this and, if we ever get someone with insider intelligence on this forum ever again, to never ask them to put their bloody careers, livelihoods, and potentially their lives at jeopardy just to win some internet argument! We lost what I consider to be an invaluable member of our community today and I'm doubtful we'll ever be getting them back.

Something similar happened with Xu Yongling on CJDBY. Apparently people insulted him for knowing nothing about planes :D :D :D.

My position exactly. He seems confident that the J-20 is inferior to the F-22 at air combat, even if it gets the WS-15. Since I give his opinion a lot more weight than the typical rando, I want to know the basis for his judgement. "Trust me, bro" doesn't do it for me, even from someone like him.

Still, from what he's written (and what he dismissed), I think I know more about this than I did.

Welcome to SDF, I'm sure you'll have a great time here.
Well, he's confident because that's his actual job. However, the conclusions his team has compiled would be estimates based on the intel they've gathered on the J-20 via espionage and analysis. Still, no one on his team would seriously claim they know 100% that all their intel is correct. But at least he would have verified data on the F-22, so he has more data on this than us.

Either way, platform vs platform debates aren't allowed on this thread, are they? Nor do they matter that much in the grand scheme of things, because what matters more is platform employment in a system vs system game.

.... All I'm really saying is that admiring raptors is NOT like jerking off to grandmas !!
If I understood him correctly though his assessment of how the J-20 compares to the F-22 in air to air engagement is not actually about kinematics, but the holistic effect of all capabilities and subsystems. My guess is that if the F-22 maintains a stealth advantage that ought to still matter in this sort of assessment. But realistically most assessments you can gather from indirect intel work only gives you a floor in an opposition’s capabilities. You’d need far more direct intelligence to figure out ceilings.

You might have got this wrong. When I started lurking on CJDBY he had just quit the place but from what people were recounting, most people laughed at and attacked him not for his professional skills and expertise but things like his political stance etc.

And Xu does not seem to have an honorary ending of his service in PLAAF.
