Sounds silly, but I think it does warrant have at least a little basis. However, the pandemic wave in Shanghai and elsewhere already happened before Pelosi's 2nd possible visit to Taiwan announcement.

Alexander Mercouris has allegedly thought of something like this in a podcast several weeks ago.

I had this inkling for months not gonna lie.... August is going to be interesting because I believe two things are happening at same time

1) China going for Armed Reinification no matter what America does or doesnt do about the Pelosi situation...

2) America doing full scale war against China, bringing the fight to China's doorsteps no matter how China responds to the Pelosi provocation

I guess what puzzles me is did US find out China's plans and wanted to up the ante or vice versa?

This is now a negative sum game of who can pull the rug out from underneath the other guy first.....

China and US are both going ALL IN on this one

No less than four exercises are currently in progress with another about to start:
7月29日至30日，每日上午7时至下午2时，以及晚间7时至11时，在南海琼州海峡西部海域的军事演习；

7月30日上午8时至晚间9时，在福建平潭—岐屿附近水域的实弹射击训练任务；

8月2日上午2时至3日下午5时，在南海雷州半岛西部海域的射击训练。

Of note, the live fire exercise at 平潭 is very close to Taiwan, the closest point from mainland to Taiwan in fact:

They even got a sign up on a cliff to say this:

For Blinken to say there's no increased military activity from PLA is saying something, I'm just not sure what that something is.

Heard from Taiwanese mouth-piece, PLA conduct three live fire drill surrounding Dong-Sha islands to block The Reagan CBG from entering Taiwanese territorial water. Further, should Pelosi decide to visit Taiwan, she may come from any direction without letting China knowing in advance. Is it possible that Pelosi can come to Taiwan in stealthy mode?

Why does it have to be by plane? She can come on a submarine....

Pelosi's plane, a VIP-configured USAF C-40C, just took off from Travis AFB, an hour drive northeast from her home in San Francisco. The plane looks like it's heading to Hickam for the first segment, and then most likely Guam, and then the show starts.

This particular plane (serial 09-0540) is the same plane that carried Menendez's entourage to Taiwan in April.
