Why is this happening?

Because Russian performance in Ukraine have been mind-boggling. A disaster in some cases.

Turkey smells Russian blood and weakness. I won't be surprise if NATO enacts a NFZ in western part of Ukraine.

This is turning into the Russian version of the Sino-Vietnamese War.

China did not become the focus of international criticism though. Not to the extent of Russia. Nor were there sanctions.

Russians should concentrate on Kharkiv and Mariupol, and Ukrainians stretch their supply lines thin.

There is 483 active launchers in the inventory.

Mainly old vintage, scrapy ones from the 70s, capable to shoot down big slow targets.

Nothing to protect any airfiled from enemy strikes.

There were no patriot launchers or CIWS systems deployed when the Iranian missile strike occurred; they were deployed afterwards. Patriot is still a good system against low flying aircraft and cruise missiles.

Also you act as if a war with the United States would include only SAM missiles when you ignore the fact that their military has more modern hardware and a larger pool of resources than the Russian one does. And that’s the last I’ll say of it, this is not a conversation for this thread.
