The thing is, the root issue of US isn't Infrastructure. Americans in the forum know it, I know it, you know it, most know it.
Its this belief that their systems are the best and their economic ideologies are flawless. Corporations, in the pursuit of quarterly profits, lead the country down a bad path. Lobbying is legalized corruption. Maybe I have not read enough - but as I understand, there is no proper checks and balances against Lobbying and the special interests.
However, For all the bad things pointed out, it's also a fact that US is this strong because of the same systems and corporations.
But I reaffirm, this isn't a good model for any country that values its civilizational cultural credentials or long term existence. It may fit well with a country that has a "silent majority" with rapture culture.
There are too many problems with the US to list a single "root issue".
Blind belief in their superiority is one issue. Another is entrenched Capitalist interests in its political arena. Then there is racism, political polarization, religious fundamentalism, a shrinking middle class, a failing education system, etc. etc.
