Lieutenant General
Donations give you a pretty decent chance, but not an absolute assurance.

It's got nothing to do with culture or philanthropy.

Actually, with all the news with "philanthropist" these days (Gates, Epstein, Weinstein), I would be highly suspicious of any of their motive.

Besides, from what I understand, you would need to donate millions to get any reassurance, whereas most of these bribes are in the 50k to 200k range.
You also need to bare in mind that racism exists and is pervasive in America. As such, while most Americans would think it only natural for rich white people to buy places at elite universities with huge donations, an Asian American doing that will almost certainly get picked up by the MSM and vilified to hell and back. The most likely outcome is that the Asian family gave away millions, the press blows it up and the university denies the kid a place and keeps all the cash. Hell, I would not be surprised if the university deliberately leaks it to the press to scam Asians out of millions and then can virtual signal by denying their kids admission and sprout some BS about their honour not being for sale.

The End of the Boeing-Airbus Spat Begins the Aviation Battle With China

There is nothing like a common enemy for bringing people together.

. Countries on both sides of the Atlantic have received authorization from the World Trade Organization to slap a total of $12 billion of retaliatory tariffs on each other, but a four-month suspension was agreed in March. It will now be extended for five years.

This was always a war without winners. By cementing Boeing’s dominance and then allowing for Airbus’ rise, government aid has helped make the commercial-jet industry

, not less. With the aviation industry in tatters because of the pandemic and many carriers having been bailed out by the public sector, keeping this legal feud alive was dangerous for all parties involved.

Negotiations have also been pushed along by the Biden administration’s more conciliatory stance toward trade relative to former President Trump. Even before the U.S. election last November, however,

signs that officials were poised to reach a deal. There was a crucial factor driving it: China.

The Asian giant is determined to follow in Airbus’ footsteps, with state-owned aerospace manufacturer Comac taking center stage in the government’s “Made in China 2025” strategy. Comac has developed a narrow-body jet called the C919, which is scheduled to enter service later this year as a direct competitor to the powerhouse Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families. China has also partnered with Russia to build a wide-body aircraft, the C929, that could take on long-haul routes. An aerospace alliance between these two countries could become a real threat in the long run.

For now, China still needs time. The C919 is inferior to the A320neo and 737 MAX in every respect: It has less range, burns more fuel and, crucially, doesn’t have an international support network that makes it marketable abroad. Furthermore, China isn’t yet self-sufficient in the most complex parts of the aerospace supply chain: The C919 will start by using engines made by

and Safran. This gives the West a geopolitical pressure point.

For investors, though, the prospect of Boeing and Airbus losing market share in the

domestic Chinese market is reason enough for concern. As a recent analysis by

pointed out, China’s jet orders are very low compared with how many it will need. That in part looks like a way to put pressure on the U.S.; Beijing still hasn’t recertified the MAX. But A320 orders also are abnormally low, which may reflect hopes that the C919 can fill part of the gap.

It is thus in U.S. and European interests to cease mutual hostilities and present a unified legal front. The C919 development, while benefiting some Western suppliers, almost certainly contravened WTO rules too. Given that China can instruct its state-owned airlines to buy as many homemade planes as necessary at the desired prices, a key source of concern should be government procurement, and what counts as such.

Historically, government intervention has served to create challengers that have made the aerospace industry more competitive. China has the scale necessary to repeat the cycle. While the end of a pointless and expensive legal battle is a welcome development for investors, it also highlights the seriousness of the long-term threat Boeing and Airbus face.

Biden welcomes Boeing-Airbus deal, agreement to challenge China

WASHINGTON, June 15 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden on Tuesday welcomed the "major breakthrough" in a Boeing-Airbus trade dispute and an agreement with the European Union to counter China's "non-market practices."

The U.S. president arrived in Geneva on Tuesday after the deal with the European Union was announced following talks in Brussels.

"Both the U.S. and EU agreed to suspend our tariffs for five years, and we committed to ensuring a level playing field for our companies and our workers," Biden said in a statement.

"Significantly, we also agreed to work together to challenge and counter China’s non-market practices in this sector that give China's companies an unfair advantage."

Biden said the United States and European Union would work together in specific ways, including on inward and outbound investment and technology transfer.

"It’s a model we can build on for other challenges posed by China’s economic model," he said.

He said "values like fair competition and transparency" that were shared by the United States and EU made democracies everywhere stronger.

It's going to get really tough for China if these trends continue... Western Europe + North America with global power structure already in thier hand

For any chance of a fight back Russia, China needs to be inseperable and be allies like UK and US as a bonus you get centeral Asia

and a coup in Middle East is absolutely nessacary

I feel that 400 billion deal with Iran was a blunder that China may regret if Saudi gets offended

Saudia is key to majority of middle east not Iran, lucky for China, Saudia isn't hostile to em as shown by thier Xinjiang vote

Also thier immediate millitary security isn't exactly coming from US, it's Pak and Egypt they rely on, with US as the guarantor if s*** really hits the fan in Saudi...
