I imagine both countries have already agree on areas they will welcome open competition (south america) and some of the no-go zones like ukraine, syria, taiwan, scs etc

It is actually simpler than that. It all boils down to one question really:

Will the US allow Europe unfettered access to Russian resources and vice versa.

If not, who will feed the Russian economy other than China?

How easily they forget twenty years ago when they all of the sudden saw China as a threat to Russia because of Tom Clancy's The Bear and the Dragon. China was going to invade Russia just to take all their resources in Siberia. Since Tom Clancy wrote about it, it must be true. So when is that going to happen like they predicted China was going to invade Taiwan when the US was preoccupied with Iraq and Afghanistan?

The idea of a concerted bipartisan approach to contain China is absurd. Sure, both the Democrats and the Republicans want to contain China, but that doesn’t mean that they agree to the same approach and may in fact hinder each other with conflicting policies.
You put it so beautifully. This is 1000% correct.

In broad terms, they like USA #1, but the devil is in the details and Repubs/Dems are almost polar opposites when it comes to detailed policies and their implementation methods when it comes to containment.

They can't even agree on COVID stimulus, Infrastructure, Taxes on wealthy, (all things that enjoy popular support among avg
Americans), much less sometime as difficult as containment of China.

Bigger question now is will the Russians agree to a white supremacist vision of the world as the Anglos want.

Anglos will want a deferential leader in Rus like yeltsin or a gullible idiot like gorbachev

I just watched CGTN (27 May 2021) that reported China & US Trade Officials had conducted constructive telephone discussions. This is a definite step forward by both US and China. There were no insults or unnecessary diatribes/comments. Those who are boisterous can be classified as narrow-minded “warriors”. I believe China and US (Biden Administration) have experienced diplomats/trade officials to deal with difficult issues propounded by the previous narrow-minded Trump Administration. At times both countries “can agree to disagree” on some issues, but both should move ahead on other trade/investment areas, aimed at mutual benefits for both China and US.

Confusing. What biden or trump administration has got to do with anything that happened? They were just following orders.

Yeah sry but US doesn't respect things like that. See Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus etc

US will grab everything on Russia's border and Putin knows that

There are reports that Putin when he first came in power he really believed US wouldnt be hostile and he tried to be 'friends'. But then came the Georgia, and Ukraine 'color revolution' and he felt utterly betryed by the West's "promises and guarantees"...

Then the 2014 massive western sanctions on Russia further solidified that the stance that Russia is looking East now and the US cant do anything to change that

Merkel and that Macaroon from France understand that, and they are trying to at least keep Russia a bit engaged with the West. The Nord Stream 2 shenanigans and the attempted 'color revolution' with Navalny have shown to Russians that the EUpoors are also not to be trusted anymore

Russia is now going to the East fully committed
