A Liberia-flagged tanker has spilled oil into the Yellow Sea, causing potential environmental damage and disruption off China’s largest crude-receiving terminal.
a Suezmax tanker that’s capable of carrying about 1 million barrels of crude, was struck by a bulk carrier just off Qingdao port, causing it to spill oil in the sea
The spill could threaten operations at Qingdao port in Shandong province, the biggest crude-receiving terminal for the world’s largest importer and a hub for private refiners that account for about a quarter of China’s total processing capacity
typically take weeks, if not months, to clean up
Good extreme competition... And very bad news for China if it disrupts their oil refining for so long

It will cause environmental damage depending on how much oil has spilled, how far from shore, weather conditions and how quickly clean up crews can get to it etc. But it will not impact oil refineries operations at all. No idea what idiots thought that to begin with. It’s not like the tanker crashed into the port or anything like that.

We have to wait. Westerners are always looking to destroy China so it is no surprise that they start making up their own stories about China..

Hopefully authorities there are very quick to contain the oil that has spilled on the sea

Lol China doesn’t have a law against ROC flag I think. They do censor it on the internet however.
This is from Taiwan. But I suppose you can see the current trajectory of Taiwan?

I think it is clear to everyone what Taiwan is doing right now and how China is powerless to do anything to counter Taiwan actions.

This will increasingly become worse as time passes

Again with this Taiwan the sky is falling narrative. If and when Taiwan is brave and reckless enough to declare independence and the PRC doesn't do squat then your concerns of doom and gloom scenario for China would be duly noted which would mean that China is indeed a paper tiger incapable of actually carrying out what it set out to do as one of it's core reasons for leading the country.

Taiwan and the US will keep salami-slicing through. While the core "independence" thing will still remain intact for China, Taiwan will become more a "country".

More internationally recognised, enter more trade agreements, cut off their Chinese connections, more high-profile diplomatic visits, more military sales etc.

So this salamy-slicing works. They will change their name, ban the PRC flag, and dropping their "China" claims. This is becoming clearer by the day, with US support.

This salami-slicing is not inconsequential, it poses dangers and losses for China if not countered

Salami slicing are just meaningless games at the end of the day in the grand scheme of things

The ‘gains’ are essentially meaningless, and the primary purpose of doing it is to try to provoke the other side into overreacting/overreaching and making mistakes.

China is keeping close watch on core areas where they will allow no compromise, things like participation in international events/organisations and concrete foreign policy moves like foreign troops or officials.

That leaves the areas that Taiwan dare to salami slice on because they are not core issues and are of little consequence; or not within China’s gift to affect without actually taking Taiwan back by force.

This flag thing is firmly in the category of the latter. Short of armed reunification, just what can China do about it? Precious little, which is why sometimes it is better to do nothing rather than try to press an issue with a weak hand with everyone knowing it. Just look at Obama’s infamous red lines. Did those enhance American authority when he set them with everyone knowing full well he could not and would not defend them? If you do that, you need to expect your opponents to call you out, and you end up looking like a real idiot having to quietly back down.

Is the flag ban an affront and insult? Of course! But is China prepared to go to war over it? No way? So just what do you expect China to do about? A tit for tat ban on the ROC? Great, thanks for playing right into the hands of the TI traitors.
