Sinovac could design the protocol, criteria, and procedure if it wanted to. However, Sinovac decided to let Butantan institute to design the protocol to earn trust. However, Bolsonaro replaced his health ministry and the people in charge of anvisa and told the Blutantan to publish the lowest number as the trial results.

One of the mistakes is to allow Butantan institute to test everyone including asymptomatic cases which is abnormal. Initially, Butantan published the efficacy rate without including the asymptomatic cases but Bolsonaro and his people in anvisa forced Butantan to include asymptomatic cases and every Western media since then have used the 50.4% efficacy rate to mislead the readers.

Quote from the media "Normally, that is based on people developing obvious symptoms but in this Brazilian trial, people with no symptoms also appear to have been included." It is not only lack of experience but also foolish as some Western vaccines only include people with two symptoms for calculation.
Just curious, did the pfizer study include asymptomatic cases? I understand the sinovac allowed the different countries to conduct their own studies and thus create alot of confusion. Brazil study I think focused on health care workers who are exposed to larger load of covid.

No, Pfizer didn't include asymptomatic cases. Pfizer phase 3 trial only included people with at least one symptom and positive test for calculation.

Another outbreak in HK, this time in the city's business and financial district, traced back to an upmarket gym in the area, where members include staff from the US consulate. Diplomatic staff don't through the usual checks at the airport.

Didn’t they only recently bitch and moan about their diplomatic staff getting ‘anal probed’ by the big bad evil Chinese? Or was that only for mainland China?

Really dishonest of the Western media to widely report that 50% efficacy. Those are lead results when you google sinovac. Even their wiki page has a section titled controversy. But not for Pfizer and AZ even though they had plenty of events that are shady

They control the narrative so it never is a fair fight. Hopefully, after WHO approval, more countries and people would be more receptive of Sinovac and Sinopharm vaccines.

Good news, man China's pharmaceutical mobilisation is extremely impressive. Bravo

By the way do we have any information about production rate?

300 million doses per year according to this report

It’s a 3 shot vaccine, so enough for 100 million people annually. The bottleneck in this case is bottling/packaging.

Thats low, hopefully they get more funding to scale up production, the previous article said that it was easy to scale up. Good news though
