Long term actions are on the way I agree. But what is short term answer?
There is a practical problem for the short term.

It all starts from President Trump's actions, which are very stupid.

There will be collateral damage, and at half will be on American companies.

So, this stupid move by Trump, cannot be taken seriously, as it has to be some sort of trick. If China makes a stupid move in response to America stupid move, then America changes track and does something smart, then China falls into a trap, and trapped itself because it fell for a stupid trick.

But, after 4 years, America was serious about it stupid tricks.

In the real world, stupid trick do not work.

After 4 years of Trump and 2 years of US government attacks against Huawei, the result is as follows:-

1. Huawei number #1 in the world in cell phone sales.
2. Hauwei is still leader in telecomuncations equipment.
3. China right on schedule with completion of stand alone 5G networks, built by Huawei gear.

You know what? I really do not know what is an appropriate short term counter move.

Not only has China's objectives have been met, but Huawei's objectives probably has been exceeded.

What is appropriate counter by CCP in this case?

That is a hard question to answer, but a minor one.

We can count on the Liberal media to tell us of the imminent demise of Huawei, at least we have certainty there.

Long term actions are on the way I agree. But what is short term answer? What if Biden doesn't win or doesn't lift sanctions on Huawei? We all know that Huawei smartphone business is dead especially high-end smartphones now. Most likely winter is last season, or if Huawei made more chips, there will be also a spring season. SMIC can do nothing to help Huawei because is still reliant on American eq and probably will be in 2021, most likely it will be sanctioned soon before US election so short term no way forward.

And what Xi did? Nothing short term. What if Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo are next in the sanction list before the election? He still will do nothing? Because if he will the only left smartphones on the Chinese market for a few years will be Apple and Samsung and LG.

Maybe ban Apple once and for all. And tell them to lobby to lift sanctions against Huawei.

Maybe in next 2,3 years Apple would have to purchase Chinese equipment to keep it's TOP brand status. Who knows?

But this way the Aussies will have to direct their anger at the US for stealing their biggest customer.
Hahaha, well Aussies are stupid as a whole and thus will have no choice but to consider things very carefully since if they remain racist, should the USA fall and lose there super power status, the Aussies are going to feel the burn and no one is going to have any sympathy for them

The Chinese needs to allow others like xiaomi, oppo, samsung etc to use their harmony OS. With their own app store, they can then allow all Chinese apps and even foreign apps to join the platform. If Apple does not allow games like fortnite on their IOS, harmony OS can then invite fortnite to join, cutting Apple off fortnite's revenues.

Don't need to invite fortnite. Fortnite is owned by epic games owned by tencent. The entire ecosystem in china is built around WeChat now and not Apple pay or android.
