Well Janiz, you should probably be a little more respectful, but having said that, it is indeed very frustrating to have all of this evidence/propaganda, and the incredible volume being generated is part of the strategy to overwhelm the senses of the sensible. I share your frustration, particularly with some who post volumes of this "stuff", which they themselves suspect is unrealiable, and although I often criticize my own administration, I believe that what Mr. Obama stated with regard to the origin of the Sam is accurate. I have limited my own posts on this thread to what I believe to be accurate, and if each member of the Sino Defense forum would apply this standard of only posting a source they know to be accurate, we might peel back the layer upon layer of deliberate and misleading statements/proclaimations, and be left with accurate evidence.

I am going to PM, Sampan, Jeff, and Popeye, as this thread once again appears to be degrading to the point of "frustrating babel", I hope each member will take a step back, and chill on the emotional end of it, and try to get to the truth. Thank you Nicky for publishing an apology for a post which you later found to be in-accurate, that is at least a hopeful sign, and my own heartfelt and personal apologies to those whom myself or others may have offended. brat

No need to worry AFB the thread is doing just fine and nobody making any real contributions is getting hot under the collar

Thanks Sam, just hate to see the world coming apart, and these unthinkable tragedies, you know I have my own prejudices, but I am trying to see both sides, this is a very important thread, and for some posters, this may be one of the few venues where they might make their perspective and concern known to us all. respectfully brat

No worries.
I was wondering though if you had any perspective of why the poor old SU-25's seem to be taking such a hammering. If you believed everything that is published, you would think that the entire Ukrainian air force had been shot down at least three times. It is though clear that about a dozen have now been downed and many others hit and at the very least mission killed.

SU25 is not the only type to be getting hit. An26, Helicopters one Il76.

Yes, but transports are transports and easy if you get them in your sights, Helo's are low, slow and vulnerable,(plus seem to suffered a lot early on, but now pulled away from the front).
Ground Attack planes are supposed to be like Prize Fighters, able to take a heavy punch and keep going. Maybe I am wrong and only a few have come down and rest managed to get home or land after taking punishment.

Form what I can remember only 3 Ukrainian SU25 have been downed. They had 92 at the end of the USSR, 60 operational pre war some were in Suki, Crimea others Chortkiv ( deep western Ukraine) with the remaining units in reserve 3 were sold to Macedonia. so that means they had 81 total the Question is how many were in Chortkiv as those are the most likely the ones being used.

I thought I wouldn't post in Ukraine thread(s) anymore (and don't worry, this is my last one, you may read on :) but today I participated in one of my few hobbies which is visiting 1936-8 Czechoslovak Fortifications; over the years I got to know personally some people who run Museums etc. and as you can imagine, they closely follow military issues; so today two of them discussed Ukraine and despite they're good friends and have similar background, their opinions strongly differed. Interestingly, the one who I thought would be anti-American, was strictly anti-Separatists, while the other, who I previously thought was cool, repeated weird stuff originating from Russian Internet :) They left the topic pretty quickly because they didn't want to get emotional, and I said just one sentence -- we stayed in front of bunker, with them wearing period uniforms over their trained bodies :)
So, the Ukrainian conflict can only be resolved on a battlefield, and I wonder what the outcome will be. The situation is really confusing -- yesterday I checked the map from http://www.sinodefenceforum.com/members-club-room/crisis-ukraine-19-6939.html#post297784 and while some "anti-Fascist" areas had been lost to "Fascists" a couple of days ago (says who?

LOL) but ... I also checked "main-stream media" "most recent" map on a major Polish server and some other (relatively large and important, I guess) area, which the "anti-Fascist" map didn't claim, was marked as still in their possession.
I'm over. Out.

A giant Lebanon, instead of Middle East, is in the making in the middle of Europe. What a lose! It is a shame of what the so-called democracy.

Actually I hear Lebanon is nice this time of year. I bet Ukrainians on both sides of this wish they had it as sweet as the Lebanese...
A.Man its a dated reference, and you have beaten beyond the grave. There is no constructive purpose in it, and oh yeah it fails to consider something that Lebanon lacked major tensions from one super power and two potential super powers. With the majority of the worlds Nuclear arsenal on both sides. As well as insinuate something present in a major way in the Lebanese wars not really as present in Ukraine. Religious conflict. In Lebanon it was a three to four way holy war. In Ukraine its mostly a question of political leanings.
