It seems like the early rumors of the 2nd batch of 055 being 8 hulls was just wrong and it's going to be a 6 hull batch. It's been a while and we still haven't seen any signs of the other 2 055 being laid down.

What made you so sure that 2nd batch is 6 hulls?
Because there are only 6 hulls spotted, the last hull of that batch is already fitting out while not even a single shred of evidence exists for the construction of the rumored last two ship.
I assumed @ACuriousPLAFan was referring to the next batch at Jiangnan which was clearly confirmed on CHH, not of the 2nd batch..
No, so this is an update of the tables that @ACuriousPLAFan has been doing of 052D and 055 for a while including March 2025, December 2025, and now May 2026.
In March 2025 update there were 8 055 listed for under construction/rumored and in the December 2025 update:
So basically this was just going off of the original rumors that the 2nd batch of 055 was going to be the same as the first batch with 8, but going by what we know now it seems much more likely that it will be 6 given that the 6 are already in an advanced state and there is no real evidence for the remaining 2.
I got mine alright. However the queue onto Nanning was very long, and there seemed to be an equally long queue for photos with this:

Perhaps this batch of 20 ships is [6 Type-055] plus [14 Type-052D]?
The previous batch of 20 ships was [8 Type-055] plus [12 Type-052D]
