They should do a shooting yourself in the foot move like with Anthropic and put Huawei like maximum pressure sanctions on ASML for daring to disobey the orders of the very smart(sarcasm) politicians and royal servants to the one state to rule them all(Israel) and single handedly destroy the Dutch semiconductor industry.

One can only hope.

Perhaps this is not just something out of the blue, but rather US has found some critical information about upcoming Chinese EUV machine development and is looking for someone to blame? Lutnick seems to want to argue one of ASML's EUV machine has made its way into China somehow.

I'm not sure what's a bigger defeat for the US: China building a domestic EUV or China able to smuggle a whole ASML EUV into China despite every effort by US government to prevent this.

Or maybe US just wants ASML moved into the US?

Imagine obeying the US's demands. You get punished by China (or US adversary X). And then you still get punished by the US.

Now ASML knows what Modi is going through.

If you remember Biden demanded all companies of allied nations had to give all their data to the US so that they could determine what were they shipping and who they were selling it to just so they could stop China from getting it. The US would know if ASML shipped such a thing to China and not just suspect it. Plus Biden forced ASML to cancel any service agreement with China. I would assume that would be frequent because of the precision sensitive elements involved in maintaining such equipment.
