Its you guys moving the goal post. Wingtech already controlled Chinese nexperia subsidiary. In fact they controlled ALL of Nexperia since they own it. But now wingtech lost control of its own assets by govt decree and China did not do an equal response.

My disappointment is that China never fights with equal punch, despite getting attacked. Always timid and therefore never gets the surrender. Never gets the decisive win.

Iran just showed how to fight with equal or even greater punch and how to get total surrender from its enemies.

Because of China's timidity, the west is never afraid about attacking China with more sanctions, trade bans, tariffs. They know they will get away with it.
There is a Chinese principle that Westerners usually don't understand and that is to defeat your opponent but allow them to escape and save face rather than to force them to into public humiliation and face crushing defeat because those are transformative moments. We call this the "battle with backs to the river"; put your enemy in this position and he may reinvent himself with his inner power found from desperation. The US forced Iran into a battle with their backs to the river and ended up transforming Iran from a cucked shit with internal parasites all over into Mr. Missile Cities who needs a payment of $300B ($3B cash up front delivered by plane) to stop blowing up the region. By denying this transformative oppertunity to the West, but rather by handing them small defeats over and over again, all of which they will suffer from but can still maintain their dignity through, China has maintained advantageous trade relations with both the US an EU until we grew our PPP GDP to exceed both. And there is absolutely no sign that the flow will reverse.

Did you already forgot China fought and won 2 trade wars, a tech war and a bio war?

Why should China fight with an equal punch? China fights to win, if the original punch missed the mark, why should China also miss the mark? In this case China's objective is to dominate global semiconductor industry, Wingtech control of offices and fabs in Europe are means to an end, not the end, while death of Dutch Nexperia is far more aligned with Chinese goal. And it's not like Wingtech is finaincally at a loss here, they already took all the patterns, IP and clients, now they're no longer on the hook to pay European pensions, its basically equivilent to Wingtech shutting down their European offices, something the Dutch wanted to avoid.

The converse is also true, Dutch goals are to preserve their own semiconductor industry, so the punishment is to destroy it, and China's response is directly achieving that. I mean even if Wingtech regains control of Dutch Nexperia, the first thing that'll be done will still be to shut it down.

Iranian victory wasn't achieved by fighting with an equal punch, infact Iranian response was characterized by being asymetrical and specifically hitting where it hurts. Iran didn't win by creating a bigger show, Iran won by causing real pain.

Iran has merely survived a defensive battle, and many challenges lie ahead. On the road to complete victory, Iran has only taken the first step.
China has long since moved beyond the stage of fighting for survival. China doesn't need to resort to methods similar to Iran's to protect its interests. If necessary, a simple statement from China could deter provocative actions by certain countries. China's continued willingness to engage in a war of words with Europe over Wingtech Technology is solely because China holds the moral high ground and needs to use this issue to extract more benefits, not just protect its own.

President Trump thanks Xi and Putin

"They could have sent in an oil ship with six destroyers alongside of it, on each side. They didn't do that. President Xi helped me. He tried to help, and I think he probably helped get it solved," Trump said.

This guy's crazy, starting to get lovable. In the last 2 days, he's:

1. said that it's unfair to tell Iran they can't have missiles when their neighbors do.
2. told Ben Gvir (AKA Real Life Gamorrean AKA Badforest Ham) that he's going to be fingerprinted like a criminal if he wants to come to the US
3. told Satanyahu he's not supposed to be blowing up buildings looking for 1 or 2 guys.

He just went from the only US president dumb enough to be tricked by Israel into attacking Iran to possibly the only non-Kennedy US president to wake up and realize the threat to the US that Israel is... and people say an old dog can't learn new tricks! Forget about all that bullshit shade he threw at China; if he takes Israhell back to being the bitch it deserves to be, we'll call it water under the bridge and he's good in my book. Here's a pile of my old busted electronics; you've earned some rare earths, old chap!

At this rate, I'll vote for him if there's a chance for a third term.

No possible. HKers are literally the absolute worst in English across all Chinese societies I've encountered (even worst than many mainland cities). Its like really really bad, let alone the accent which i usually cannot understand (marginally better than viet english accent).

I have this book on my shelf, on wan yan, or mun yin, 文言 that was written in Chinese. Forget where I bought it, here in Toronto or in Hong Kong. It was written by a Hong Kong guy.

So this Chinese book, about ancient Chinese language, because some of us are into such stuff, this Hong Kong guys starts complaining about how bad English language skills are in Hong Kong. I guess people interest in 文言 are interested in language in general.

He wrote, show a Hong Kong person the letter "r" and ask them pronounce it, they would say "L" or curl their tongue saying something multi-syllables.

Now should that same Hong Kong person who cannot pronounce the letter "r", show them the word "are" and ask them to pronounce it. All of them will say, "r".

I burst out laughing. So true, and so weird.

I think the Japanese butcher the letter "r", so those Hong Kong people copy the butchered pronunciation methods.

:confused::p
