submarine launch rate of US vs Russia vs China since 2010 tells quite the story.

Just the raw tonnage increase and having 2 shipyards going at it really increases modern SSN numbers by quite a bit.

When did Ayi say: PLA is not in a position to scoff at 885M? Was it comparing it to 093B or the new subs?

Some guy: China these days won't be impressed with 885M right?
Ayi: China is very far from being able to scoff at Russian's SSN capabilities.

I recall in Chahuahui he also pointed out that more than US, Russians tend to design their boats so the sail is more squat and has a more integrated hydrodynamic shape and it's for good reasons. A minimal sail such as this boat would be just taking that idea even further.

In terms of overall capacity, SSGNs and SSBNs also count. The Columbia SSBNs under construction count as two SSNs for example.

If we look at the size of the Jiangnan New Assembly Hall, it is only a quarter of the size of the two new Huludao Halls.
So it only adds 25% more floor area, but more importantly, the arrival of Jiangnan spurs competition in nuclear submarine construction, and the resulting cost/speed/technology improvements.

---

With both the Huludao Southern Assembly Hall and the Jiangnan New Assembly Hall, I think they are ramping to 4-6 SSNs per year from these buildings.
Plus whatever comes out of Huludao Eastern Assembly Hall.

---

If we go with a 12.5-13mm diameter for the Type-095 and 09X, that is very similar to other SSBN classes such as:

13m Ohio/Columbia/Type-094
12.8m Vanguard/Dreadnought
12.5m Triomphant

So would future Chinese SSBNs have the same diameter and propulsion as the Type-095/09X, and simply lengthen the hull?

we have seen two different 16m beam related tenders. so most likely 096 is going to have the largest beam for any SSBN in modern times.

Now that you mention it, a few days ago folks were puzzled by the measurements of the mystery Bohai sub, which seemed to come to 16-17 meters...

Likely artifact, there haven't been any large diameter hull sections spotted at Bohai.

Do we just lack data for sub launches between 2016 and 2021?
they paused submarine construction for many years while designing 093B.

A lot of new tech incorporated from 093A to 093B.

I'd imagine the difference is even more extraordinary to 095/09X, which I presume are using the same or similar reactor, but it is possible that 09X with the small sail & newly designed hull, may allow for higher more efficient cruising.

Also, I don't think we know for sure that 09V is using nuclear electric, but I would be shocked if 09X isn't.

keep in mind that Chinese SLBMs need to go the longest distance, so....
