Regards,
This has been on repeat like "Russia will run out of missiles and tanks next month" since 2022, though

The Europeans are even more radicalized and pro-war right now. The ukrainians are very much pro-war. They think they have the upper hand.

So the only way Russia gets peace is if they make major concessions. Likely withdrawal will be demanded.

I think we are looking at the defeat of Russia at this point. If Putin is asking for peace, he is asking to surrender.

Here is the full statement. You can decide for yourself with full context if the war is actually “coming to an end” as every article and headline is quoting.

We have recently discussed this issue with our colleagues, remembering how it all started. We concluded an agreement with the Ukrainians and initialled it in Istanbul in 2022. And then one of my colleagues – frankly, it was Macron who did it – called me and said, “Ukraine cannot sign such documents with a gun to its head.”
This is a direct quote; we have the tape of that conversation. I asked him, “What should we do?” He said, “Can you withdraw troops from Kiev?” We have done it. One member of the show business popped up, the then Prime Minister of Britain. What did he say? He said that the agreement cannot be signed because it is unfair.
Who says what is fair and what is not? Why is it unfair if the head of the Ukrainian negotiating team has initialled the document? Who is the judge? Next, they promised assistance [to Ukraine] and started fostering confrontation with Russia, which is continuing to this day. I believe that the matter is coming to an end, but this is really a serious matter.
The question is why they are doing this. First, they expected a “crushing defeat” of Russia, as we know, the collapse of Russian statehood within a matter of several months. It did not work out. And then they got stuck in that groove, and now they cannot get out of it. That’s the problem.
There are certainly clever people over there, those who certainly understand the essence of the current events. I hope that these political forces will gradually return to power or will take power into their own hands with support from the overwhelming majority of European countries.

Even if Russia ended the conflict as it stands, they still took 20% of Ukraine. That is a victory for Russia and a defeat for Ukraine. Also, they didn't ask for any peace according to the post above.

The key is "they think", it is vastly different from "they have". The CNN article is painting an image of drowning western aliance trying to grab any straw, the "hint". Just like China has been "collapsing" for decades in western minds, Russia would be "hinting surrender" in western minds for decades to come.

So the only way Russia gets peace is if they make major concessions. Likely withdrawal will be demanded.
What makes you think that Russia is interested in EU's wishful peace? There is a wellknown Chinese saying "战场上得不到的东西,谈判桌上也休想得到。" meaning "nothing can be gained from the negotiation table if it can not be gained from the battel field." EU can demand whatever they want but it will remain a wet dream if they can't move the front line in their favor. I am sure both Russians and rational Europeans have something similar in their dictionary.

I think we are looking at the defeat of Russia at this point. If Putin is asking for peace, he is asking to surrender.
Putin's peace is different from EU's peace.

The real problem now in Ukraine is that has become a grinding low intensity conflict that both sides in all fairness are fighting in their borders. So is not a long range overseas conflict for Russia or ukraine. The situation for Ukraine even if the West is helping Ukraine, is grinding more Ukraine than is grinding Russia, just by looking at the collapse of economic activity in Ukraine. As a low intensity conflict my guess is not costing as much to the Russians as much as some think.

Ukraine is trapped in a situation that is not only have to grind themselves defending their territory so Russia doesn't take more of it but also trying to take territory held by the Russians to prove themselves that this conflict is worth fighting. Russia manufacturing capacity and economy seems mostly intact. Yes, Ukraine is getting a lot of stuff from the West but the lack of industrial capacity is pretty big problem. The US because Israel is now trapped in the Middle East in a conflict with Iran so is very likely that support from the US is going to collapse, and because this war, energy dependent Europeans are heading to rough times. Russia is mostly energy independent.

Is not being pro this or anti taht or defending that or this country actions, that is the most probable reality

Russian FAB-500 bombs strike the temporary deployment site of the 106th Territorial Defense Brigade of Ukraine, located in an abandoned building. The video was filmed in the village of Novaya Sloboda in the Sumy region of Ukraine. The FAB-500 bombs were dropped by a Su-34 fighter-bomber. The bombs destroyed the Ukrainian temporary deployment site.
