I know it is early to talk about it, but assuming we are at the point when J-35 are at hundreds, and 6th gen are at trial, would it be worthwhile to upgrade the J-16 and what would that upgrade be? I assume WS-10C would be very likely but would WS-15 be even possible?

Considering our neighbours aren't all flying 5th gen, I assume having a good 4.5th gen doing air patrol would be more economical and sufficient than a 5th gen especially because of the stealth coating, and still be a match for most fighters in the region.

I don't know how accurate this is. But here is a history about the J-11B and how it have affected Sino Russian relationship.

Well … is this just Russian propaganda footage, AI-summarised BS and nothing special more? Or where is the relevant and interesting part? Otherwise it will be deleted as a stupid click-bait YT-video.

A bit difficult without the serial numbers. If you have the original video or link it is easier to ascertain since the report will at the very least narrow down the theater of command.

Thank you for your reply.

That's the thing, isn't it...

Yes, but if it is indeed a training unit from one of the Flying Academies, it could be Xi’an Flying Academy; 1st Training Brigade based at Jiuquan Qingshui (Jiuquan Xiaheqing) with 3x1x serial numbers or the Harbin Flying Academy, 1st Training Brigade based at Harbin-Shuang Yu Shu with 1x1x numbers.

Whether it belongs to Xi'an or Harbin, the J-11A hasn't been on the list until now, so this is a splendid discovery for me.
In the background of Pic 1, there's a distinctive building resembling a five-storey pagoda, so I shall use that as a clue to investigate further. Thank you!

Interesting, but recently several units are more and more often flying around, briefly operating for training & exercises at other bases, so it is difficult to know if a certain type or unit was moved or was just there at a certain base for a deployment.

If it is indeed Hailar, then it is IMO more likely from the Harbin Flying Academy, 1st Training Brigade based at Harbin-Shuang Yu Shu, since the 2nd Training Brigade has a detachment based at Hulun Buir/Hailar.
