I disagree. Yes, Melenchon's comment is embarrassing and cowardly, especially for a socialist, but it I also think his strategic analysis is wrong. I don't see any strategic thinking in Trump's quest for Greenland. It appears to just be self-aggrandizement. The Danish are some of the most obsequious vassals and would be happy with a huge US military presence there but it seems he wants the appearance of gaining territory and getting a "win" for his supporters. I also don't view the Northern Sea route is that important yet, although it might be if becomes even easier to transit in the future. However, even if it does, Greenland would only be important geographically, and that too marginally, if you wanted to influence shipments to Europe. Russian Arctic ports are far and St. Petersburg is obviously already covered by European NATO unless you are anticipating something happening to that alliance. Whatever the case, it certainly isn't attempt to protect Europe.
Winter sports is just a rich person thing. Its very common to have loads of mercs.

Its harmful cause it promotes and vindicates lots of racist stereotypes that people around the world have, including Chinese themselves, about how Chinese are incapable of doing well in winter sports, how its her "white genes" allowed her to do so well. Its also about the craze about her promoting lots of brands and making money when pure Chinese player did not get the same level of support and crazy fandom that she got, only because of her mixed race identity.
She is a walking stereotype promoter and giving her a platform in China was harmful to China's self-image, Chinese players self-image.
Moreover, Chinese govt appearently ignored their own law about dual citizenship to allow her to play as Chinese. Which only makes seem desperate for gold at any cost, even if ignore their own laws. Lots of other Chinese-descent players did not get the same treatment and had to renounce their citizenship in order to play for China.
Finally, she showed no actual loyalty to China after the games ended. She openly flaunts her US citizenship and the special treatment she got from Chinese govt. She openly stays in US and gives no indication that she actually is a Chinese citizen going back to China out of patriotism. It shows that she played for China just for the money.
So, both Chinese govt and her seem greedy. Not what sports should be about. Overall, just a toxic and embarassing episode for China.

The whole thing smells like one of those regime change, Trojan horse operation they are famous for. Appear weak while you are strong clap trap they borrowed from Sun Tzu. Do nothing, wait and see approach is the perfect antidote to their BS.

Let the USA damage the EU and NATO even more, like actual damage and then wait and see. For all those times that the EU has been a willing hitch to the USA, I am sure then can stand to suffer a lot more to actually destroy all notions that the USA gives a shit about them. I kinda doubt she moved the needle much especially with what has happen in China the past 4 years. She is likely more (in)famous in the US/West. The Chinese may be seeing her as a potential returning turtle. Which is the opposite of what you are suspecting.

Also all this racial purity sounds nice but is not realistic given how sports are today. You should know since your country's most famous modern athlete is Zlatan who isn't ethnically Swedish.
Countries like Japan, Korea and even Israel are known to use black people as athletes. Unlike China which is a continent size country with 56 ethnic minorities, these are much smaller countries which are much closer to racist ethnostates and yet they couldn't prevent it. Yet China is somehow supposed to do it and be embarrassed it isn't an ethnostate?
