Oh, well I guess you can teach an old dog a new trick after all! They're a bit slow in the head but eventually, even they can get it, the concept that everything is connected. You can't be shaking hands pledging cooperation on X, go home to issue sanctions on Y and launch political attacks on Z, then feel absolutely shocked that the other side pulls the cooperation agreement on X because you thought those are separate issues. I have long alluded this to Western Autism in their dealings and I think China's rare earth beating is starting to correct their understanding of how to behave. Kinda reminds me of the South Park episode where they realized that the most effective cure for ADHD is a parental beatdown whenever the kid acts up!

The west really really really should be grateful to China that it is staying neutral and not actively supporting Russian war efforts. They really need to be careful what they wish for trying to make China pick a side, because they will absolutely not like the side China will pick if forced to.
Also, while the headline is aimed at Japan, this high degree of consensus reached by China and Russian on safeguarding the outcome of WWII can just as easily be applied to Europe. Especially if NATO insist on being wilfully retarded with its preemptive attack against Russia nonsense. Might as well make it Barbarossa 2.0 if they did that.
It’s pretty clear that the Russians have latched onto that, and is warmly embracing China’s lead on this avenue of diplomatic manoeuvring.
The more I think about it, the answer is quite simple. People are just clueless. I think of the so called liberals in college. They go on and on about people being exploited in third world factories, yet they never stop to realize that most people are working there willingly.
I believe the argument that the mainstream commentary makes is that these assets are essentially worthless. Thus the stories of underutilized HSR, ghost cities, overcapacity, etc.

Promise amazing capabilities, swear it won't be expensive, deliver on nothing, say more money is needed. We saw this with F-35, LCS, Zumwalt, Constellation, etc. The tech bro part, Anduril flooding comments sections and Reddit with bot posts. "They are moving fast! Failures will happen!"
