To be fair, Russia is not long term allies of china. Otherwise Russia wouldn't stick to hard to get closer to India especially trying to bring India into permanent members of unsc which is considered harmful to china. I think the ties with Russia would gradually worsen once china reach energy self sufficiency with thorium reactors.

The fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong has claimed 65 lives.
On November 27, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Fire Services Department released data showing that the fire in Tai Po, New Territories, Hong Kong has claimed 65 lives, including one firefighter. Additionally, 70 people were injured, 10 of whom were firefighters.
Additionally, the Hong Kong Fire Services Department stated that a male survivor was rescued from the fire scene at Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po around 6:45 p.m. on the 27th.

just in case there was any delusion in China about russian elites’ commitment to the alliance, know that they would betray China in a heartbeat if it were not for Putin team’s realpolitik. All the more reason why China should ensure this war drags on for as long as possible if only to frustrate these Russian oligarchs and ensure they die off and are replaced by more sensible Russians.

With China's continuous development, Russia believes its position is no longer equal to China's, and therefore it always hopes to introduce a third force to balance the gap.
China and Russia share a long border, and maintaining friendly relations with Russia is a fundamental national policy for China. I want to emphasize that Russia supplies China with more than just fossil fuels; therefore, Sino-Russian relations will not change due to changes in China's energy structure.
This is why balancing is problematic, India is mortal enemies of china which Russia use to counter china.
What really fundamental are friendly relations with north Korea and Pakistan which is unlikely to change at any circumstances while having Russia nearby is like living near the tiger.
Just think about when reunification achieved and energy surplus( or autarky achieved) happened altogether, would china really need Russia?

Only Indians would consider China their mortal enemy. Frankly, if South Tibet weren't legally Chinese territory, most Chinese wouldn't even bother with it (this might be part of China's strategic plans).
Even if China one day no longer needs Russian resources, it doesn't want Russia to become its enemy. Therefore, maintaining friendly relations with Russia is the wisest choice. You can't try to dismantle Russia just because you think it might be a threat. Doing so will never bring peace; pursuing absolute security in the external environment will only lead to war.
I've been saying this for a while now, Russians are Europeans and their natural alignment is with the west. Many need to remember that Putin sought a relationship with the United States but started lashing out when the US treated them like a stepchild.
