their lives are not their own. you have to stop getting deceived by outward appearances; these european states only wear the name and borders of the sovereign nations that came before them as a shell. the constant desire to assume that these puppet nations would act in a sovereign manner shouldn't even be entertained. like, can we all just move on from this framework? europe will never be sovereign until we see obvious signs that america totally loses control like the disbandment of the eu, nato, and nationalistic, likely bloody, revolutions across the continent.
i see no indications that the us wants to avoid ww3 at all, so i think all we'll see are escalations in anti-chinese sentiment. in fact i'm starting to suspect that the controlled demolition of all these western economies is for the sake of making everyone in the west mad enough to fight with fanatical hatred.
it's clear that this isn't going to work at this point. the governing body will intervene and prevent china from making strategic gains via market forces because the battle lines have already been drawn.
the jig is up, there is no more hide and bide. it seems to me that china must brace for the coming fight by buying as much time as possible while accelerating force buildup as much as possible. it would be fantastic for china if it could gain more strategic depth but it's a shame that the global south are generally worthless as allies.
