The goal should be to achieve nominal control with pliable tribal leaders in charge but managed by Pakistani backers. Afghanistan again colluding with India is a bigger threat to Pakistan long term than solving this problem properly.Pakistan cannot even control Balochistan and Waziristan. What makes you think they can conquer Afghanistan?
Not to mention India would use the opportunity to attack them. Making it a two front war.
Taliban has essentially allied with India against Pakistan. They have become the threat Pakistan has been fearing since the old soviet days. Pakistan essentially helped the Taliban to defeat the US with the hope that they will not allow Afghanistan to become a hub for India to operate and destabilize Pakistan.@tamsen_ikard
It's laughable that you think that Pakistan should "conquer Afghanistan", considering the great bloodshed in the first phases of the war, then the attrition afterward --> all of that will result in huge costs for Pakistan, and the bloodshed from afghans will make the people more hostile which will lead to more operations against them, let alone that Pakistan itself will not be safe from operation done inside its territories...it'll be a complete lose that they'll gain nothing from.
Let alone the chance that the west & india will use against pakistan, even if the US doesn't like Taliban, they'll use these precedents later against Pakistan, and they can work with india to make the return of the old traitors to govern Afghanistan again and use it as a hub against Pakistan & China. Add their ability to use the International Institution to hurt pakistan for it, even if it comes late.
Pakistan & Afghanistan should cooperate to have the depth required to deter Western & Indian aggression, and that should be the only goal and strategy, not fighting and trying to "conquer" each other.
And I didn't even said anything about related islamic values here...
Why would you harbor such thoughts? Its time for Pakistan to fully conquer Afghanistan and achieve complete strategic depth.
Any Afghan government would be the same regardless. Afghans hate Pakistan for existing and they even invaded Pakistan after Pakistan declared independence.Taliban has essentially allied with India against Pakistan. They have become the threat Pakistan has been fearing since the old soviet days. Pakistan essentially helped the Taliban to defeat the US with the hope that they will not allow Afghanistan to become a hub for India to operate and destabilize Pakistan.
But the Taliban has allied with extremely anti-Muslim BJP govt in India despite their own religious conservatism. This shows Taliban is no longer deserving to rule Afghanistan from Pakistan's perspective.
Let's not forget who kept Taliban alive during the both US and soviet occupation of Afghanistan. It was only due to Pakistan and ISI that the Taliban stays alive.
Pakistan has the golden opportunity to install fully pro-pakistan elements as governing body in Afghanistan. Both US under Trump hates the Taliban. And China also will not like Taliban colluding with India. This is a threat for China as well.
Overall, China and US both will help Pakistan finally finish the Taliban for good inside Afghanistan and install pro-Pakistan government.
Its time for Pakistan to fully conquer Afghanistan and achieve complete strategic depth. Take out the Taliban for good and install a more pro-pakistan govt if full annexation is unpalatable.
Afghanistan's mineral resources will be very useful for Pakistan's economy. and they can also bring needed civilizational advancement in Afghan society.
Pakistan is not a white/european country. They have the needed religious and tribal ties to seep into afghan society and conquer afghanistan properly.
That's why I said, only a complete Pakistani vassal governing Afghanistan should be the goal for Pakistan. That is what having strategic depth looks like. An Afghanistan that is neutralized and no longer a threat. It could be Pakistan actively ruling Afghanistan, or supporting proxies that rule it for them or break Afghanistan into pieces so that they are fighting each other rather than fighting Pakistan.Any Afghan government would be the same regardless. Afghans hate Pakistan for existing and they even invaded Pakistan after Pakistan declared independence.
