Jokes aside, Thai leaders did attend the 2015 parade. After all, all history is contemporary history. This year's absence was largely due to domestic political turmoil.

Pro-China Petunthankhan was ousted due to a scandal, leaving the government with only an acting prime minister. Another factor is the suspected death of the princess. Either way, it wasn't a good opportunity to attend.

It will be fun to see Thai King visit China. He is an extremely odd person and a complete anti-thesis of Chinese sensibilities. Him visiting China will be quite an interesting spectacle.

This year's feel is very different from 2015. There are lots of attempts at historical nihilism this year with nonsense like:

From both US and Japan, therefore there's a need to reassert historical facts on what really happened 80 years ago. And if we want to look at that history under magnifying glass then Thailand is hardly squeaky clean. Them avoiding the spot light is expected.

I heard one of the military guy said all new weapons are operational. Why didn't they include some of the new CCA along with J20s for the airshow.

I meant there gotta be at least one CCA that is really operational right?
If you want to see live airframes or even flybys, I have a feeling some if not all of these drones will be displayed at Zhuhai 26'. No more reason to keep them secret if they've already been revealed publicly. WZ-8 and GJ-11 was displayed at Zhuhai 21' after their official reveal in 2019.
