Let's call it by its correct name: Purge!!!!
No. A purge is what the Pentagon desperately needs. There's far too rot in the system and the only workable solution is to get rid of most of the people involved. This is just a shuffling of the decks to make it seem as if something is being done when it's really just business as usual. You'll know that it's a proper purge when the primes start complaining loudly about it.

The US military is riddled with systemic corruption, from politicians to high-ranking officers to corporate departments. Eliminating the military-industrial complex is as difficult as eliminating the medical-industrial complex. In China, there is a term specifically used to mock military corruption in the US: "Commissioner Smith."

Anyone noticed that dark eagle hypersonic missile has mach 17 speed at terminal phase? It appears that US hypersonic tech is not behind China. I don't think any china hypersonic can reach mach 17.

I wouldn’t look at these figures and use them to make sweeping statements like this. After all, the US Department of Defence themselves claims that China is ahead in the field of hypersonic weapons.

so too did the us "believe" in a bomber capability gap against the soviets through the 60s.
That is because the US assumed the M-4 Bison had more range than it actually had. And that there were more of them.
The M-4 Bison only got its design range many years later with new engines.

But the US was behind in ICBMs. That is why the launch of Sputnik scared them.

As for the speed of Dark Eagle and Chinese HGVs. It depends on the booster more than anything.
