Rational thinks it's a Sukhoi, it seems to have tails. but who knows at this resolution.

I think the very faint line coming out from the left-most engine exhaust is a tail. There is a very small triangular peak above the right-most exhaust, I think that this is another tail.

Does the forum came up with a nickname for the new jet yet ? It need a name just to refer to it.
I do wonder why it supposingly flew in Xian , if this is a glimpse into PLA 6th competition , ,maybe it's a part of requiment is to demo a full sized plane. Thus this is just the Xian's horse in the race.

I confirmed was nothing but several mentioned connections between the NPU & XAC so it was a likely conclusion!

Was advised the latest Guancha podcast episode stated or implied that the aircraft in question flew over Xi'an and is tied to Northwestern Polytechnical University (西北工业大学).

Haven't listened to the episode myself, so hopefully someone who has will be able to elaborate assuming that's accurate.
