Such gaslighting by Trump means that a US attack is imminent. It seems that the Trump regime isn't really worried about Iran's nuclear weapons. They want regime change instead.

There are only two ways to regime change, a coup or ground invasion, the coup path got burned when they attacked unprovoked and without even bothering with a casus beli, they're not even bothering with talks of democracy and just fronted their old monarch dictator.

Ground invasion require staging troops and even Trump knows it'll be a disaster they'll probably lose. Of course that doesnt mean they wont do it, American politicians are very opem about putting Israel first, they'd see America burned to the ground if Israel demands it.

IMO Trump personally want to look tough and already said too much to back down, but he dont actually want a ground war. Because of this he's probably been sold some kind of win with only a bombing campaign. It obviously wont be enough and they just went through this with Yemen, so those who sold it are really counting on Iran's retaliation on US assets to then sell a ground invasion. Trump himself might not be able to see the second step, if he did he'll try to delay as much as possible while looking for a face saving way out.

I dont think we can assume they know what they're doing, infact judging from the trade war to tech war to bio war its more than likely they dont actually have a plan. At end of the day Israel cant survive a protracted war with Iran so US has to do something, but that something is probably winging it rather than anything cohesive

So cute when people say the US waste time and money in the middle east instead of east asia. No, the middle east is only place you get a return on using the military, you slap around a helpless military with no allies, the losses are near zero, occupy some land or proxies, the world wows at the endless might of the United States and everyone gets a participation medal.

You send your military to east asia and all it does is getting into a staring contest with the toughest opponent you've ever face while praying to god that nothing happens.

Now, there's no predicting what someone as unpredictable as Trump will decide on, but when the entire military is incentivised to replay the easy fights, it'll keep returning to it even when no civilian wants it to happen. I say the chances are good on US involvement.

The illusion of return is what keeps getting them, occupying Afghanistan for 20 years returned zero, funding ISIS gave returns but the key to that one was let ISIS do the fighting. There's no "easy win" to replay when it comes to direct US involvement, but there are humiliating defeats to replay, including the "easy win" against Yemen just 2 month ago.

Chances are good on US involvement not because of any returns but because they have no choice, because if they don't Israel is done. It doesn't however mean they have a plan or knows what to do, just that they must do something.

The Middle East is the connection between Asia, Africa, and Europe, where a lot of the world's energy flows from and through, and is a massive market with hundreds of million sof consumers. It sits astride enormous untapped mineral reserves. The only thing lacking since the Ottomans fell is political unity. They could eventually build something more functional, like ASEAN, or a modified EU, but that requires peace in the region.

The US has a policy of never letting the region have peace, particularly Iran, but really anyone who gets too independent. First it was the coup against Mosaddegh, then when the Shah fell, they let khomeini trutrn from Paris to hit the leftists, and prevent Iran's tilt to the Soviets. An independent Iran was bad for them anyway, so they supported Saddam in a brutal war, but Saddam wanted independence and let all the support they gave get to his head, so they took him out in a decades long campaign once he'd exhausted the region.

Finally, they're gunning for Iran again. Probably Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan next. Poor Iran in particular can't catch a break, but that's your fate when you're in the world's pivot, i.e. the most important piece of geostrategic real estate on the planet.

People are too dismissive of the region, somewhat correctly, because it lacks political will to push outsiders out, but that doesn't mean all the wars being fought there are withiout reason. The US understands very well what losing the Middle East means, amd so does China.

NTSB issues rare safety bulletin about potential issues with Boeing 737 Max engines

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

The recommendation was inspired by two incidents on Southwest Airlines flights that hit birds. The NTSB found issues with CFM International LEAP-1B engines that, when damaged, can cause smoke to “to enter the ventilation system and ultimately the cockpit or passenger cabin.” Smoke in the cockpit is classified as an extreme danger in aviation as it can overcome and incapacitate pilots.
The NTSB says it is “concerned that flight crews operating these airplanes may not be fully aware of the potential hazard” and is asking the Federal Aviation Administration “to ensure that operators inform flight crews of airplanes equipped with the affected engines.” The agency is also recommending modifications to engine software.
